Position Overview
Designs, develops, and improves new or existing product and assist in the building and testing of prototype vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision.
· Experience with automotive parts - ability to iinspect, diagnose repair, and/or replace vehicle operating systems (air conditioning, powertrain, suspension, brakes, etc.)
· Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, or other build documentation.
· General knowledge of interior and exterior vehicle assembly, service, and aftermarket modifications.
· Experience with installation of wiring harnesses and thermal hose systems.
· Experience performing, and the use of power tools required, to modify sheet metal and plastic components; this includes A-surface components.
· Perform and certify inspections & tests in accordance with technical documentation, escalate issues to management.
· Utilize computerized equipment to record build data for work performed.
· Operate a vehicle lift in a safe manner.
· Perform preventive maintenance activities to support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
· Participate when required in Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and work instruction reviews.
· Identify and support continuous improvement projects (e.g., cost reduction, efficiency improvements, etc.)
· Ensures 6S, housekeeping, and health and safety standards are maintained.
· May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description.
Qualifications:
· 2 years’ experience in an automotive environment, required.
· Experience working in a team environment, required.
· Excellent oral and written skills.
Education / Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Associate degree preferred
Special Knowledge / Skills:
· Ability to obtain and maintain a Hi-lo license.
· Welding certification is a plus.
· Journeyman or Apprenticeship preferred.
