Cimarron and Watring are seeking a Wire Harness Design Engineer to support the Space Launch System (SLS) program.  The SLS is going to be NASA's largest and most powerful rocket, and will be used to take U.S. astronauts back to the Moon, and beyond!  This is a remote work opportunity (i.e., work from home)! 

Watring is a subsidiary of Cimarron.  Watring Technologies, Inc. is a Huntsville, Alabama, technology-based design and manufacturing company specializing in custom hardware and turnkey solutions. Founded in 1997, Watring Technologies’ primary support is in Aerospace and Defense.  Their capabilities include hardware integration, testing, and product development.  With this acquisition, Cimarron gains substantial capability in both expanded service and product offerings.

Key Duties:

  • Apply detailed knowledge of engineering designs and drawings.
  • Generate detailed wire harness assembly drawings and wire harness installation drawings.
  • Create 3-D models and drawings that meet customer design standards. 
  • Interface with manufacturing and engineering to interpret and implement wire harness engineering design and planning for production.
  • Design models based on program design requirements.
  • Create 3D models and wire harness pipe routes using Creo.
  • Certify that drawings meet engineering and process adherence thresholds and are queued for submission to APDM.
  • Maintain an Engineering drawing log to track completion.
  • Sign off on drawings for submission into APDM Windchill.
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings, status meetings, and program reviews. 
  • Provide an engineering and independent assessment of technical issues and risks.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. 
  • Cimarron and Watring employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.
  • Experience creating wire harness CAD models and assembly drawings. 
  • Experience creating wire harness installation drawings. 
  • Experience with wire harness 2D and 3D models and wire harness pipe route drawings. 
  • Bachelor of Science in a related Engineering discipline (i.e., Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering) and 10 or more years of experience, or Master of Science in a related Engineering discipline and 8 or more years of experience. 

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Experience with Creo.
