Job Description
The Wine Sales Representative candidates will need to compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, internet websites, North Carolina ABC website, current customers and other sources. Will travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and display or demonstrate product using samples or catalog and emphasize salable features. Must have impeccable Customer Service skills to develop and maintain relationships with buyers as well as subordinate staff at all accounts. This includes being able to investigate and resolve customers issues with pricing or deliveries.
Education and/or Experience: Diverse wine knowledge obtained through previous work at another distribution company, fine wine retailer or restaurant. Previous experience in a sales position. Desire to continue to educate self on wine and market trends.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales reports and procedure manuals. Ability to write proposals for customers and management. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, consumers, staff members and peers.
Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Word and Excel. Must have ability to design proposals, write wine lists, print feature cards, invites to events and compile technical notes on wines. Responsible for building e-mail database of customers and consumers to forward pertinent information to. Must be able to quickly respond to e-mail and phone calls from office staff, management, customers, drivers and suppliers. Must have printer and supply own ink and paper.
Physical Demands: The employee must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to drive, stand for long periods of time at events, use hands for opening bottles and must be able to taste and smell.
Other: Must have cell phone with a good coverage plan for territory, valid drivers license and must be able to qualify for the North Carolina ABC sales permit.
