HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Wildlife Nutrition Assistant responsibility will be to prepare a wide variety of foods, which include live and frozen wildlife prey and completed diets; perform a variety of general warehouse and store functions, unload and load vehicles, and make deliveries. This position reports to the Wildlife Nutrition Warehouse Manager.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Prepares food and diets for the wildlife
- Processes (cutting, chopping, grinding) various fruits and vegetables
- Handles invertebrates, fish, rodents, meats and other food items
- Receives materials and food supplies
- Delivers materials and food supplies
- Organizes materials for delivery and loads and unloads
- Drives to multiple sites within the Zoo and Safari Park
- Washes and sanitizes containers, surfaces and equipment
- Operates kitchen utensils and appliances
- Maintains vertebrate and invertebrate prey cultures
- Performs routine maintenance of equipment and facilities
- Determines measurements (weight, volume) for diet

- EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Food safety training and certification is highly desired
- Current valid California Driver’s License in good standing

- Safe food preparation and handling techniques
- Proper methods of receiving and warehousing
- Safe driving practices and California motor vehicle laws
- Commercial and household food processing operation and maintenance
