Job description

As a WIC Site Supervisor, you will uphold our Mission, Vision, and Values. This position will serve as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA), certifying WIC participants and providing nutrition education to non-high-risk participants. In addition, serves as the Site Supervisor overseeing operations and staff, assisting WIC Coordinator.
Education: Must be one of the following: Registered Dietitian, Registry Eligible Dietitian, Bachelors or Master’s degree in Dietetics; Nutrition or Nutrition Sciences; Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition; Clinical Nutrition.

Experience: Previous experience in a maternal and child health or public health setting preferred. Previous supervisor experience.

Mission – Improve the Quality of Life of Others:
Complete the MIS Application, certification procedure and documentation, including measurement of height, weight and hemoglobin.
Document assessments, evaluations, counseling, and referrals on appropriate forms and the ADP Application.
Schedule appointments using the MIS scheduler based on parameters and instructions from the coordinator.
Make referrals as needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the coordinator.
Vision- ODHS preferred partner in East Central Indiana for improving the well-being of individuals and the communities in which they live:
Evaluates clients’ nutritional status through dietary assessments and consults and makes recommendations in relation to nutritional needs, family income, cultural food patterns, home facilities, and modifications in diet.
Create and tailor a WIC food prescription using the MIS application that is appropriate to the participant’s needs.
Issue and explain food benefits and the issuance period.
Provide educational programs for clients in the form of classes or demonstrations and maintains related plans, files, and records.
Provide individual nutritional counseling to non-high-risk participants and others requiring individual follow up.
Help with breastfeeding tasks as assigned/needed.
Ongoing communication with WIC Coordinator.
Monitor Clinic operations for effectiveness and efficiency.

Provide all pregnant and breastfeeding women with nutrition education opportunities that promote a support breastfeeding.
Maintains documents (forms/letters) recommended by State WIC.
Able to perform duties of clinic assistant if needed in office or at hospital.
Screen applicants for eligibility (identity, residency, and status) and document in MIS.
Determine income eligibility using the MIS.
Verify Medicaid using the Medicaid website.
Assist participants with the completion of the WIC signature page and obtain participant’s signature on the epad.
Issue EBT card, WIC booklet and instruct to use.
May perform off-site certifications and screenings of applicants for eligibility, issue and explain food benefits.
Participate in professional development opportunities, in-service education and staff meetings.
Attend conferences and meetings needed or required by the position and participate in committees as requested.
May serve as spokesperson for the agency to the degree delegated by the coordinator.
Assist with recruiting and interviewing new staff.
Train, supervise and discipline reporting staff.
Monitor and evaluate reporting staff.
Reviews and signs employee timecards, mileage, and time off request forms.
Assures that reporting staff works within the parameters of established procedures and protocols for WIC and ODHS.
Assigns quality assurance tasks required by the organization’s quality assurance plan.
Assists with maintenance of equipment inventory.
Assists with nutrition education plan.
Assist as the system administrator for WIC software.
Works with the WIC Coordinator when resolving client complaints and/or concerns.
Participate in community activities to promote good public relations and to increase community awareness of nutritional needs and the services offered by the WIC program.
Assist with outreach.
Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
Plan and conduct monthly staff meetings. Provide staff with in-services for continuing education that is pertinent to WIC. Send all staff for training required by the State WIC office.
Attends all required management meetings and organizes departmental meetings.
Assists in maintaining reports as required for the State and local agencies.

Ability to interpret and communicate agency rules, regulations, and procedures.

Able to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Possess an understanding of individual’s socioeconomic status and lifestyle with respect for individual differences.
Requires standing, walking or sitting for long periods of time. Occasional bending, stretching or lifting up to 40 pounds.
Requires the ability to work in stressful situations.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range or use of approved adaptive equipment.
Typical Working Environment: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to clinic environment. Tasks involve contact with blood or body substances.
Education: Must be one of the following: Registered Dietitian, Registry Eligible Dietitian, Bachelors or Master’s degree in Dietetics; Nutrition or Nutrition Sciences; Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition; Clinical Nutrition.
