JOB TITLE:WIC Registered Dietitian-Part-Time
REPORTS TO: WIC Director

PURPOSE OF JOB:
The WIC Registered Dietitian is the lead nutrition professional for the WIC Program. The WIC Registered Dietitian provides nutrition counseling to high-risk WIC participants, with the goal of improving client knowledge and behaviors regarding nutrition and wellness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conducts nutrition and breastfeeding assessments for High Risk participants. Provides counseling in a participant-centered manner through motivational interviewing and emotional based counseling to elicit behavioral changes. Conducts approval of specialize formulas and collaborates with Health Care Providers, as needed to ensure proper food benefits are issued; documents nutrition/breastfeeding assessments, care plans and follows up in data base; may coordinate and/or facilitate nutrition education and training for new and existing program staff; may assists with observation of staff for compliance utilizing state WIC provided observation forms; maintains high standards of confidentiality and program integrity; maintains high risk reports, may create presentations and training materials. Participates in training in nutrition and program policies/procedures provided by ADHS. May represent the MCHC WIC Program in pertinent ADHS WIC Program committees and groups for nutritionists and Registered Dieticians, or as otherwise designated. Maintains registration and required licensing credentials by completing continuing education units; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: WIC program policies and procedures; current evidence based nutrition, breastfeeding and medical nutrition therapy; educational principles and methods; analysis and evaluation of nutrition data.
Skill in: Computers and use of designated software to conduct virtual/phone services; maintaining records, charts and preparing reports; analyzing nutrition problems and counseling based on current evidence based information; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, agencies and the public. Demonstrates multicultural awareness and respect for diversity of the clients served.
Ability to: Effectively respond to phone calls, emails, and complaints in a timely manner; plan, prioritize, manage, and respond to multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment; read, write, research, synthesize data and detailed reports.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) required.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in community or clinical nutrition practice preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
- Registered Dietician, per ACEND.
- Must complete required ADHS Learning Management System (LMS Courses) within 60 days of hire.
- Must complete 35–40-hour breastfeeding course within one year of date of hire.

Pay: $59,975.00 - $74,968.00 per year
