The Ocean County Health Department WIC Program is seeking Full-Time Community Service Aides to certify participants in the Ocean County WIC Program. Full-Time positions include generous benefit time, medical, prescription, dental, hospitalization, and a vision insurance program.
The WIC Community Service Aide manages participant clinic flow and acts as a receptionist for the WIC Program. The Community Service Aide is also responsible for clerical functions which includes performing the necessary verification for enrollment in the WIC Program (categorical, residential and income).
The WIC Program currently has offices located in Toms River, NJ, Lakewood, NJ and Manahawkin, NJ.
Currently the WIC Program operates Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday from 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. On Wednesdays the WIC Office is open from 10:30a.m. to 7:00p.m.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs categorical, residential and income verification for WIC Participants and documents this information.
- Refers participants to the appropriate WIC staff for counseling and services.
- Provides and documents referrals to other health and social services agencies for participants.
- Performs, as needed, anthropometric and hemoglobin measurements for WIC participants
- Schedules participants for appointments: nutrition education, initial certification, subsequent and food package changes.
- Issues WIC checks and distributes necessary paperwork to WIC clients.
- Assists participants with explanation of forms (proxy forms, voter registration forms).
- Issues WIC ID cards.
- Answers phones and handles participant inquiries/complaints and WIC mail.
- Pulls client charts for WIC appointments and re-files after visits.
- Strictly upholds the confidentiality of records and information regarding WIC clients, both inside and outside the agency.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Participates in state, regional, and local trainings.
- Performs other duties on an as-needed basis.
- Will assist in outreach when necessary.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- H.S. Diploma, College Credits and/or Experience helpful.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Excellent oral & written communication skills. Excellent Computer skills; knowledgeable in Microsoft office. Excellent organizational skills.
LICENSE: Applicants must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
