We are seeking a Cardiac Sonographer:
The Cardiac Sonographer independently performs professional level assessments and a variety of non-invasive studies using ultrasound and related diagnostic technology as appropriate, and records the results and clinical preliminary impressions as indicated. The results of these exams are used to direct the course of patient care. The sonographer uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to evaluate anatomical, pathological, diagnostic disease processes.
The sonographer assists with transthoracic echo, transesophageal and stress testing; dobutamine, treadmill exercise stress echo and carotid duplex. The sonographer communicates preliminary impressions of examination results to reading and supervising physicians. All examinations are performed within standard protocols on adults and geriatric patients, and occasionally on adolescents and pediatric age groups. The sonographer performs examinations using both stationary and portable equipment.
The sonographer serves as a clinical instructor for the UW School of Ultrasound, and participates in the instruction of fellows, residents, and visiting physicians. The sonographer may also participate in clinical research, and acts as a clinical resource to staff at their own facility and throughout the system.
Minimum Requirements:

Traveler must have permanent address outside 50 mile radius of Madison (address must be included in traveler's profile).
Experience:
Minimum one year cardiac experience required
Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar size hospital.
Prior traveler experience highly preferred
Licensure and Certification:
Registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS).
BLS must be certified through American Heart Association ONLY
Education:
Successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CHAAHEP) approved ultrasound program, Associate Degree in Biological Sciences, Radiology, Ultrasound, or relevant health sciences field.
References:
Needs 2 completed references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only for work performed in the last two years).
Floating
Travelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's competency skills/experience. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the travelers assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract.

You will be taking a 20 strip exam to demonstrate that competency and must get an 80% on the test and correctly identify our 4 lethal rhythms (Asystole, V-Tach, V-fib, and 3rd Degree AV Block)
Attached-(Uploaded to our existing documents) is a study guide and practice test similar to what you will take on Monday.

All agency travelers must demonstrate competency in interpretation of cardiac rhythms before your orientation begins. Previous completion of PALS, ACLS, etc. is not acceptable as a demonstration of this competency. Instead, you will be expected to satisfactorily complete a 20 question test which consists of multiple choice questions and write-in rhythm identification. You must pass with an overall score of 80% and correctly identify 100% of the 4 life-threatening rhythms for your patient population (adult or peds). If there are any questions, please refer to earlier communication from UWHC to your agency.
