We’re searching for a Brand Development Manager to join our fast-growing Wholesale team!

The Role:
Team Jeni’s is seeking a dynamic, self-starter with a can-do attitude that’s analytical, consumer centric, and who will lead business execution on a day to day basis to drive growth and profitability. The Brand Manager will work closely with, and report directly to, the Vice President Sales, Wholesale.

Position requires the ideal candidate be scrappy, loves to work in a fast paced environment, and is able to roll up their sleeves to ensure our ice creams thrive in a highly competitive marketplace. This individual will assist in the development of selling strategies and key marketing initiatives including annual brand plans, marketing strategies and communications, consumer insights and industry analyses, product innovation collaboration, presentation development, and implementing product and promotional initiatives to support shopper marketing and national brand marketing campaigns.
All business activities must be done in a way that underscores the social mission of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

The Responsibilities:
  • Develop, lead & manage plans supporting long-term brand strategies that deliver net sales and profit growth for the Wholesale channel.
  • Analyze retail market and evolving consumer trends for meaningful business recommendations utilizing consumption sales results, consumer insights, market research, and category trends to support wholesale growth strategies and unlock new opportunities. Be comfortable presenting to senior management
  • Develop and execute marketing and shopper programs, including test-&-learn initiatives to achieve objectives. Responsible for Shopper Marketing budget.
  • Work cross functionally in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives – innovation, marketing, scoop shop collaborations, etc. Partner with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance to allocate resources to the highest priority projects.
  • Assist in retailer category review deck development utilizing syndicated data analysis, consumer insights, marketplace analysis, imaging systems, & shopper marketing plan development & execution.
  • Proactively leverages expertise and knowledge of (category, shopper, consumer) insights and potential outcomes into brand plans.
  • Understand the retail marketplace – grocery, natural, mass, club, etc. Develop recommendations based on consumer research, marketing, product optimization, product development and brand-building initiatives.
  • Tracks performance and KPI’s, adjusting plans as needed.
  • Attends and presents at key Sales meetings and external customer meetings.
  • Identify and build alignment around opportunities for new and improved products based on consumer insights or category developments.
  • Makes recommendations for the Wholesale channel with an eye on comprehensive company strategy. This includes creating Wholesale communication briefs to inform design, innovation, and marketing executions, all of which support the brand vision as an outcome of the overall strategic planning process. Ensures consistent expression of brand equity in all aspects of Wholesale Brand initiatives including communications and new products.
  • Connects the dots of multiple data points to push, dig beneath the surface, and probe to drive significant insights.
  • Attend trade shows to represent the brand and support sales opportunities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in brand management at a consumer goods company
  • Quantitative, analytical and numbers focused, with experience delivering actionable reporting & insights (this is a MUST). Experience analyzing syndicated data (IRI, SPINS, Nielsen, etc.)
  • Experience developing & executing shopper marketing programs such as: paid/sponsored search, digital couponing, on & off-site display, etc.
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate data within Excel to uncover insights and provide actionable recommendations based on marketplace dynamics, competitive analysis, promotion and pricing evaluation
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to tell a compelling story.
  • Self-starter, hands-on personality
  • Possess passion and curiosity to continuously seek out opportunities and ideas to strengthen and grow your business
  • Great project management & execution skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Be a cross functional leader with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross functional partners within sales, supply chain, research and development, communications, finance and market research
  • Have a bias for action to quickly adapt and execute on the needs of the business while being comfortable challenging the status quo
  • Leverage first party and third party consumer research to understand and articulate the voice of the consumer within the organization to deliver on strategies to satisfy their needs
  • Experience in imaging systems a plus (1WorldSync, IX-One, Syndigo, etc)
