The Wheelhouse Production Associate I is responsible for all functions of bicycle wheel production at Quality Bicycle Products. This includes up 350 unique products within the Quality Wheels brand, contract wheel builds for third party partners, and custom wheels requested from retailers. The Wheelhouse Production Associate uses their extensive training, and knowledge of wheel building best practices to meet multiple quality control specifications in a fun, high-performance, high-quality wheel building production facility. This role reports to the Wheelhouse Production Supervisor.
Production Associate 1 is a training position intended to last 3 to 6 months at which point if you have mastered the skills needed you would move up to Production Associate II.
What you will be accountable for:
- Using problem-solving skills and understanding of wheel building theory, adjust wheel building approach to meet differing quality control standards across the wheel build portfolio.
- Accommodate for variations in raw material (spokes, rims, hubs, nipples) quality by modifying technique on a per wheel basis to achieve highest quality results.
- Pick, fill, and prepare raw components for wheel assembly in QBPs production facility
- Utilize state of the art wheel building machinery to lace and true production wheels.
- Use manual wheel building techniques to hand lace and hand true premium wheel products meeting best in industry specification targets.
- Ensure finished wheels meet multiple quality control standards including but not limited to tension of spoke, tension balance, wheel dish, lateral and vertical true.
- Install product finishes that increase product value and consumer satisfaction including rim and tubeless tape and valves.
- Pack and prep finished goods for warehousing and sale
- Participate with the Wheelhouse leadership team to pursue new best practices for wheel production through continued optimization while maintaining best in class quality.
