• Provide system and network administration to ensure day-to-day operations of systems and
continuous access for the user community.
• Supervise staff to ensure day-to-day operations and user requirements are being fulfilled in an
effective and timely manner for this 24 x7 operations facility.
• Ensure departmental goals by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and
appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and
enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
• Participates in maintaining and building effective team by assisting with the recruiting, selecting,
orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing
personal growth opportunities.
• Supports and achieves financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual BU IT
budget in conjunction with Corporate IT; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating
corrective action.
• Maintain a detailed inventory list of all computer hardware and software for the Business Unit,
including but not limited to vendor contracts, service provider agreements, software/hardware
warranties etc.
• Ensure all networking components are properly configured, installed, and maintained at the
Business Unit.
• Maintain reliable system performance through active monitoring of error logs and user-reported
network issues.
• Evaluate network and system performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and
latency.
• Provide recommendations to improve reliability and performance.
• Work with the Corporate security team to ensure risks are mitigated, system patching, upgrades,
config changes and addressing critical vulnerabilities.
• Ensure data and systems backups are performed and tested as per company policies.
• Maintain and update disaster recovery plans for key components of the network.
• Provide timely communication on projects, including updates on critical milestones.
• Ensure adequate testing environments are in place for proper rollout of patches and or
updates/upgrades.
• Ensure all documentation, procedural and support, as well as network diagrams, are created and
updated.
• Provide end-user support for users within the Winpak Films BU environment.
• Develop key relationships with internal business unit management/users to ensure business unit
directives are evaluated and supported in conjunction with Corporate IT
• Be available to provide on-call support for incident resolution as well as after-hours work for
planned changes/enhancements/upgrades.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Office - Professional setting with low noise level.
• Plant - Includes heights, noise, climbing stairs, and working around equipment.
• Some travel within Canada and the United States may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science or Business, or equivalent
program and related work experience
Abilities
• Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and deal effectively with all levels of the company.
• Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
• Possesses a high sense of urgency to act, respond to employee/plant issues, and push initiatives to
completion.
• Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
Experience
• 10+ years' experience as a Network Administrator.
• Knowledge of VMware vSphere (all areas of deployment including registering HBAs, multipath, and
configuration of DRS, VMware.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Server operating systems - 2016 and above.
• Experience with configuration of managed network devices (routers, layer 3 switches, firewalls, load
balancers and VPN).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 with focus on Exchange Online, Teams and SharePoint.
• Experience with virtual desktop infrastructure.
• Experience with disaster recovery operation of networks and systems.
• Experience in managing projects of varying sizes.
• Strong analytical skill set.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered a definite asset.
• Experience working on an ERP implementation is considered a strong asset.
• Experience with C# programming language, Microsoft SQL Server, and ASP .NET experience is a plus
for support of in-house applications.
