SWWS is a rapidly growing sand processing company located in Midland, TX looking for the right person to add to our team. SWWS is a leading provider of frac sand in Permian Basin.

SWWS is seeking a Wet Plant Operator Technician

Summary:

The Wet Plant Operator Technician will be responsible for maintaining and operating a sand washing plant, As well as performing maintenance and repairs on mining equipment and machinery in our processing plant. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment to ensure that all machinery is running efficiently. Work will include welding and fabrication, rigging, operating lifting equipment, and basic electrical wiring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation and knowledge of Wet plant startup/shutdown procedures
  • Assist maintenance department in maintaining the Wet Plant.
  • Obtain samples and perform sieve and turbidity tests of washed or finished sand grades.
  • Report and assist in correcting out of spec processes at the wash plant.
  • Performs tests and analyzes results from defective or suspect units to determine the causes of failure under the direction of the Plant Manager
  • Performs machinery maintenance and repairs. Unplugs and shovels off conveyors and screens. Changes out screens, rollers, cone liners, etc. Repairs conveyor problems. Greases moving machine parts.
  • Performs machinery set up and take down which includes, but not limited to, running cables and hoses, setting up blocks, assembling/disassembling machinery, operating skid steer to move parts, tarping, shoveling, etc.
  • Keeps machinery area clean of debris and shovels.
  • Operates equipment to include skid steer (and loader if trained). Moves excess materials from around the machinery.
  • Perform daily workplace examinations.
  • Uses various equipment, hand, and power tools.
  • Performs job site clean-up.
  • Maintains all tools and equipment in a safe and clean condition.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
  • Participate in safety meetings and trainings.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. The employee is required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up 75 lbs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on mining equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment, identify necessary repairs, and complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts, such as bearings, gears, and electrical components.
  • Maintain and repair conveyor systems, pumps, compressors, and other equipment as needed.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and repairs.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs completed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working on equipment.
  • Assist with training of new employees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Management.

Other Potential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pull samples of product and run appropriate QC tests.
  • Perform Quality Control duties including pulling samples and running them through the testing process.
  • Carry out tasks assigned by Management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Heavy Equipment Experience
  • Mechanical abilities.
  • Demonstrate communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrable ability to utilize time efficiently and productively.
  • Strong desire to learn other aspects of the plant.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair of industrial equipment, preferably in a mining or heavy equipment environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills
  • Welding certification is highly preferred.
  • 30 CFR Part 46 training desired
  • Pay Dependent on experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Working in dusty and noisy environments
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 75 pounds
  • Comfortable with heights up to 65 feet
