To operate and maintain a water treatment plant in accordance with (TCEQ) Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations to supply water to the citizens of Tyler.
- Perform plant operations; operate pumps, motors, chemical feed pumps, etc. manually and or via SCADA
- Perform lab analysis, interrupt results, make correct chemical adjustments based on results Perform data entry into computer
- Perform or assist with plant maintenance, basin, or clarifier cleaning
- Perform or assist with preventative plant maintenance.
- Answer phones, dispatch emergency call, customer complaints, conduct facility tours, etc.
- Obtain minimum licensing requirement; TCEQ Class C Surface Water license and maintain in accordance with license requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work any assigned shift; days, evenings, nights, swing, rotating, on-call, etc.
- Must possess the ability to perform water treatment tasks in accordance with TCEQ regulations.
- Must possess the ability to follow all safety procedures in and around hazardous chemicals.
- Must possess the ability to perform basic math as it relates to water treatment.
- Must be able to use a computer to retrieve and enter data.
- Must be able to perform plant operations using SCADA system.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and effectively communicate using the English language.
- Must be able to receive training and direction in accordance with policies and regulations.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit 1-8 hours daily. Ability to push, pull, carry up to 50 pounds; carry 20 pounds, lift 100 pounds; occasionally climb, stoop, and bend 1 hour daily.
- Other duties as assigned.
The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in place of each year of college required in the job description. Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place of an Associate's Degree, and eight years of relevant experience will be considered in place of a Bachelor's Degree. Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree.
