Job Summary:
The Western Regional Sales Manager, Natural Channel role is responsible for overseeing the outside sales representatives in the assigned territory. Work requires substantial knowledge of items sold and working knowledge of Natural Channel accounts in assigned territory. The role will require strategic ownership of accounts, a strong partnership with the Key Account Manager and the ability to successfully implement and drive company initiatives to deliver results.
This is a remote position and the candidate must live within the defined Western Regional territory and be willing to travel up to 50% of the time. The territory includes all of the following - AR, TX, OK, NE, SD, ND, MT, WY, CO, NM, AZ, UT, ID, WA, OR, NV, CA, HI and AK.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and coordinate all regional activities involving sales of Nordic Naturals products in the retail channel.
Provide oversight to the field sales team, to include direct sales representatives and independent contractors and their staff.
Strategic planning and account development to grow sales with existing and prospective key accounts.
Assist in negotiating partnerships, on-going discounts, promotional programs, product distribution and placement, and co-op advertising with retailers within the defined region.
Analyze sales data and reporting as well as advise key Sales Managers and sales team on market conditions and events, customer issues and competitive intelligence. Utilize data to drive sales planning and forecasting.
Responsible for determining account responsibilities and territory boundaries for field sales team within the region.
Develop and monitor monthly, quarterly and yearly individualized sales goals and objectives for the field sales team in the region.
Strategize on and implement sales tools for direct sales representatives to improve their organization and effectiveness.
Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and other products, prices, and sales, providing feedback to corporate headquarters.
Interview and hire field sales team members as necessary and in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
Proactively and thoroughly learn and educate themselves, field sales team and retailers on Nordic Naturals product line and brand attributes.
Will serve as key contact for regional chain retailers as assigned.
Represent the company at trade association meetings and other venues as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
Key Contributions in First Year:
Develop a strong working rapport with the broker sales team and direct reports, implementing clear consistent communication and various sales tools that will help motivate and drive the team towards exceeding sales goals.
Analyze current promotional results to help shape future promotional implementation for the key regional chains in the territory.
Brainstorm and collaborate with team members to develop solutions and strategies that elevate the teams’ sales skills.
Position Qualifications:
BA/BS in Business, Marketing Communications or a related field is required.
3-5 years field based sales and retail account management experience within the natural products industry is required.
3+ years management experience of contract broker teams in the Natural Channel is a plus
Home based within regional boundaries (AR, TX, OK, NE, SD, ND, MT, WY, CO, NM, AZ, UT, ID, WA, OR, NV and CA) and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
Must be proficient in the use of standard office software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace.
Must be able to review documents, contracts, promotional plans, ensuring accuracy while also managing all project deadlines.
Must be self-motivated and able to manage obligations without direct supervision.
Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written words clearly and concisely.
Ability to view all situations with a positive attitude and be solution oriented.
Ability to look beyond the standard solutions and "think outside the box".
Ability to act in a self-confident manner to facilitate completion of a work assignment or to defend a position or idea.
Ability to bring energy to the performance of a task and eagerness to learn new skills.
Pay, Benefits & Perks:
The estimated annual pay for this role is $110,000 to $125,000. This pay is an estimate and the exact compensation may vary depending on an applicant's location, skills, prior experience, professional qualifications, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may also include incentive compensation (i.e. bonus or commission) if applicable.
