WELLNESS COORDINATOR
Louisiana State University invites applications for the position of Wellness Coordinator in the Student Health Center. Reporting to the Director of Wellness and Health Promotion, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for conducting one-on-one wellness coaching appointments and implementing needs-based wellness initiatives focused on primary prevention and risk reduction. This position works collaboratively with other units within the Student Health Center and campus partners to leverage wellness expertise and improve prevention efforts.

Elevate wellness coaching program
Providing one-on-one wellness coaching is a primary function of this position. The Wellness Coordinator will contribute to increasing visibility and utilization of coaching as part of the levels of care approach to emotional wellness and supporting student wellbeing and success (e.g., stress management, sleep hygiene, nicotine cessation, sexual health, alcohol/other drug use, and building healthy habits).
Cultivate strategic partnerships
Supporting the health and wellness of students requires community commitment and collaboration. There is opportunity to cultivate meaningful collaborations with student organizations, faculty, and campus and community partners to leverage resources and maximize the impact of wellbeing initiatives, including the Wellness Champions program.
Innovate to support today's student
The evolving needs and interests of college students requires bold innovation and commitment to creating student-centered experiences. The Wellness Coordinator will utilize available data and work alongside the Street Squad, peer education team, and campus partners to develop health promotion campaigns, events, and presentations that advance the dimensions of wellness and the divisional priorities of quality, access and inclusion, and mattering and belonging.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE
  • Serves on a multidisciplinary team to facilitate student understanding of holistic wellness and applying our emotional wellness five levels of care approach.
  • Participates in Student Health Center initiatives to promote an integrated collaborative care model that incorporates all aspects of wellness.
  • Provides one-on-one wellness coaching based on student needs.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates campus-wide health promotion programs.
  • Facilitates large and small group workshops and presentations for students.
  • Represents the Student Health Center at campus outreach events.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Support (55%)
Coordinates student wellness education and outreach as well as development of engaging health promotion campaigns and educational materials in various media formats including web and social media content. Responsible for program operations, including planning, implementing, and evaluating culturally sensitive, theory-based health education presentations and campus-wide health promotion programs incorporating the support and involvement of campus and community partners. Teaches in both curricular and co-curricular settings. Coordinates and assists with key departmental initiatives including state and federal mandate compliance, such as the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act and Title IX, opt-out HIV testing, online campus-wide educational requirement administration, graduate student supervision, and peer education coordination, as assigned.
Direct Student Support (30%)
Advise students individually, providing one-on-one wellness coaching based on students' needs, interests, developmental stage, and learning style, employing brief motivational interviewing and other evidence-based strategies to facilitate behavior change. Such coaching may include mandated one-to-one meetings and group education classes for students referred by Student Advocacy and Accountability and Residential Life.
Quality Control (10%)
Embraces and executes the marginal gains approach and seeks to improve level of all services, events, programs, and experiences in department for continuous improvement every academic year, including coordinating a variety of assessment activities including the administration of the National College Health Assessment and the Core Alcohol and Drug Survey; utilizes data to inform practice and shares broadly.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Performs other duties as assigned. Represents the Student Health Center on campus and community committees and task groups, as assigned. Supports broad divisional/ institutional efforts including at least 40 hours per year helping with initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services Finals Testing, and other special projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience in delivering health education and one-to-one advising, mentoring, or coaching.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in health education/health promotion, public health, or other area related to defined responsibilities from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience in pedagogy, health education, curriculum, and behavioral change and/or student development theories; multimedia communications; research methodologies; health and wellness coaching; planning and implementing large scale health education programs; experience with college health setting and addressing needs of college student population.
  • 2 years of full-time professional experience in a capacity related to the duties to be performed.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH)
  • Health and Wellness Coach Certification (e.g. ICF or NBHWC)
  • Demonstrated group facilitation, curriculum/learning design experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS:
Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities, this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
Ability and willingness to work some evening and weekend hours.
This position may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.
