Welding Instructor
  • This is a 6 month contract position with the possibility of extension.

Working hours:
  • Second Shift - Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm(or 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM).
  • *This person MUST be able to work either second or third shift.

Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Welding Instructor to join our team and lead our in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers. As a Welding Instructor, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating comprehensive training sessions that equip our team and customers with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in welding techniques and applications. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the proficiency and effectiveness of our welding professionals.
Special Requirements:
  • Background in Naval pipe and/or structure welding and weld procedures.
  • Fundamental computer skills (Microsoft Office, Time Keeping).
  • Experience training welders.
  • Candidate should have prior knowledge of NNS operations and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather information necessary for designing in-house training programs focused on welding techniques, safety protocols, and product knowledge.
  • Develop training materials, including presentations, handouts, and visual aids, that effectively convey complex welding concepts in an understandable manner.
  • Create engaging course content that covers various welding methods, equipment operation, safety procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Determine the most effective teaching methodologies, incorporating a mix of theoretical instruction, practical demonstrations, and hands-on practice.
  • Coordinate the development of training aids and resources to enhance the learning experience.
  • Conduct training sessions for both field support personnel and customers, ensuring that the content is tailored to the specific needs of each group.
  • Develop evaluation criteria to assess the effectiveness of training activities, and gather feedback from participants to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and technical trainers to leverage their expertise in welding processes and technologies.
  • Continuously update and revise lesson plans to incorporate new welding methods, tools, and safety practices, ensuring that technical information remains current and relevant.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; or completion of an Apprentice School program and 3 years of relevant exempt-level experience.
  • Alternatively, a High School diploma and a minimum of 8 years of related trade experience in welding.
  • A Master's Degree in a relevant field, along with 1 year of related exempt-level experience, will also be considered.
  • Graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School could be considered as a substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong expertise in various welding techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Prior experience in conducting training sessions, preferably in a technical or industrial setting.
  • Ability to adapt to changing industry trends and technologies, and incorporate them into training content.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure comprehensive and accurate training materials.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching and mentoring individuals in the art and science of welding.

Job Type: Full-time (6 month contract).
Salary: $32.91 - $36.58 per hour.
Expected hours: 40 per week.
