Description:
We are looking for someone who is capable of reviewing API 1104 and ASME welding codes and their application to 49 CFR 192 & 195 as well as B31.3, 4, & 8, and pressure vessels. Individuals must have a demonstrated ability to quickly review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and accompanying PQRs submitted by service providers against relevant DOT codes, industry standards, and Company Standards and help the service providers expeditiously get into compliance when gaps are identified.?An individual with Excel VBA programming ability is a plus.
Willing to work with someone who is not expert in all of these, but some level of expertise and the ability to quickly turn around WPS reviews is essential. (We might even be willing to help train someone up if we can find someone with the right potential, the right background, and the willingness to do this kind of work on a longer-term basis. Perhaps someone with a Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or similar degree who is interested in learning.) Provide Welding Engineering support for company projects as requested on a weekly basis. Complete detailed timesheets documenting which projects are being supported/charged to.
- Review and approve welding procedures specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification record (PQR) submitted by contractors
- This includes adding comments to help enforce company standards or correcting any code compliancy issues
- Review applicability of submitted WPS/PQR for project specific review
- Issue company API 1104 or ASME Section IX welding procedures for projects where contractors have not provided a complete set of welding procedures
- Provide solutions for resolving project requests?
- Review Welder Qualification Records in WWIMP (Welder and Welding Inspector database)
- Perform in-service welding calculations
- Complete in-service welding requests?
- Provide general project support
- Develop training material, when needed

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 2 years experience required, 4 years experience preferred
