The general responsibilities for the Welder - Maintenance Technician are to apply the principles of rational systems to solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. There will also be opportunity to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, and/or schedule forms and also read diagrams, blueprints, operational manuals, methods and procedures.

This position starts between $44.39 and $50.96 per hour
Additional Responsibilities for will Include:
Welds metal parts together, using both stick rod and heli-arc welding techniques.
Performs tasks related to welding, such as thermal cutting and grinding.
Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts.
Installs modifications to equipment, or structures.
Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
Pipe fitting and ability to draw isometric diagrams and develop bill of material for piping system construction.
Dismantle and installation of bolted connections (pipe, vessels, etc.).
Assist in the maintenance and repair of fixed equipment to include pumps, seals, blowers and specialty chemical plant processing equipment.
Operate forklift, man lift & hand tools including drills, hacksaws, wrenches and grinders.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
Trade school/apprentice program completed/college certification preferred.
Minimum of 5+ years of relevant maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
The qualified applicant will be expected to produce welds using the SMAW and GTAW methods, on 2-6" pipe, in the 5G position. The number of test coupons, pipe sizes, schedules, and methods are to be determined, to ensure the applicant is qualified to produce welds in accordance with the current set of Weld Procedures Specifications (WPS).
Examination for acceptance of these test welds will be either via destructive (bend tests), or nondestructive (x-ray) methods, with the evaluation criteria being in accordance with ASME Section IX.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience for taking field measurements, performing pipe layout and fitting.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with operating machinery necessary to complete tasks such as: forklift, man lift, drill presses, band saws, and cranes up to 15 tons (preferred).
Must be familiar with work order processing in a CMMS, preferably SAP.
Must have the ability to climb a ladder and wear a respirator.
