POSITION SUMMARY: Fabrication Products has immediate openings for experienced Fitters to join our team. We’re looking for a hardworking individual who enjoy meeting challenges and surpassing customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have a background in structural steel fabrication and is experienced with lay out, positioning, aligning and fitting structural materials & parts in accordance to blueprint and layout specifications.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
- Must be certified or able to pass 3G FCAW weld test to AWS D1.5 standards.
- Minimum of 3-6 years on the job experience in a structural shop as a Fitter
- Knowledgeable in type sizes and grades of materials, ASTM plate and shape "Standard Mill Practice".
- Ability to interpret blueprints.
- Knowledgeable in crane operations and rigging of structural steel and operation of most plant equipment.
- Familiar with craftsmanship criteria set forth in AWS D1.1 and D1.5-2010.
- Knowledgeable of AISC and AWS standards and workmanship.
- Able to read and interpret complicated shop drawings, shop detailed sketches and cut lists.
- Proficient at shop math and applicable geometry.
- Knowledgeable regarding angles, slopes, bevels, diameters and radiuses.
- Knowledgeable of AISC "Welded Joint Standard Symbols" as defined AISC 9th Edition.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, and determines sequence of operations.
- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
- Plan sequence of operations, applying knowledge of, effects of heat, and allowances for weld shrinkage, machining, and thickness of metal.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly/tacking and or welding using prescribed fixtures and proper work procedures.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as MIG and TIG welding machines, Grinders ETC.
- Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
- Set up jigs and fixtures.
- Locate and mark lines and reference points onto floor or structural shape and transposes them to various points of the work piece, using tapes, snap lines, plumb bob, squares and levels.
- Moves parts into position manually or by hoist or crane.
- Aligns parts using jacks, turnbuckles, port-a-power, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammer.
- Straighten distorted parts using sledgehammer, hand torch, or straightening press.
- Fit parts by means of clamps, bolt straps, braces or bolt parts in positions for welding.
- Use transit to level horses, fixtures or align attachments.
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Must be able to lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 50lbs
- Moves parts into position manually or by hoist or crane.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position such as: standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, etc.
