We have an opening for experienced and skilled welders to work in our Weld Shop.
What You'll Do:
Under moderate supervision, lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components and sub-assemblies to assemble structural forms, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Responsible for GTAW and FCAW welding of mild steel, aluminum and stainless-steel metals to fabricate vacuum chambers and vacuum valve weldments. Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture products to customer drawings and specifications, or other forms of instruction. Perform all duties as assigned and assist department supervisor on all other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Set-up and operate welding equipment to perform GTAW and FCAW welding operations on a variety of mild steel, aluminum and stainless-steel components
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
- Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product
- Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
- Operating other accessory equipment and performing some tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other types of welding arcs.
- Have the ability to operate small fabrication machines, band- saw, drill press, and other power tools.
- Complete jobs assigned by the Weld shop supervisor
- Perform maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Being in charge of preparing and setting up necessary tools and equipment for welding job such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipment
- Involved in training with in the department
- Perform general cleanup around shop
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- High School diploma, or equivalent and 5-8 years of experience in various forms of welding
- Successful completion of an internal welding test
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Attention to detail
- Ability to read units of measure
- Some Certification Tests will be required
- Hand, eye, and manual dexterity
- Required to stand for long periods of time, reach, and bend
- Required to lift up to 60 lbs.

Salary: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
