Job Description
Summary:
The Welder is responsible for fitting, joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable material using appropriate welding techniques according to product specifications and production schedules. The incumbent will work with senior management to ensure that customer products meet job requirements, maintain production levels, and produce quality UT passable welds.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of welding experience required
- Overhead and Jib crane experience needed
Qualifications:
- Passing 2G test, T-Joint test, and Carbon Air Arc test results
- Knowledge of various welder concepts, practices, and procedures
- Ability to read welding symbols, welding diagrams, blueprints, and other instructional materials
- Ability to use welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, and Air Arc
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
- Ability to work additional hours, as needed
Responsibilities:
- Perform welding duties using a wire welder
- Weld steel components according to layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions
- Weld in various directions: flat and horizontal
- Set-up work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate or rework finished products
- Work with fitters to assist in fabrication or welding of multi-component parts
- Operate forklifts, hoists, power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the job's needs
- Inspect and correct welds to meet product specifications
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates
- Read and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and work orders
- Cross-train and perform other job tasks as assigned
- Maintain functionality of equipment
- Maintain quality and production levels as determined by supervisor
- Maintain positive attitude and willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment
- Operate equipment safely and maintain safe working habits
Working Conditions:
- Full-time shop exposure
- Extreme temperatures
- No travel requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly as well as climb stairs and ladders
- Must wear OSHA required PPE equipment while working, including OSHA approved welding hood if welding
