Job Description
The Weld & Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that the Marion Body Works welding and quality programs remain compliant to all applicable AWS codes and customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Qualify and maintain qualifications for welders employed at MBW to applicable AWS standards.
- Perform weld inspections.
- Assist and mentor welders on best practices for welding.
- Assist in performing weld orientation for all new welders.
- Ensure all weld standards and procedures are followed and remain up to date.
- Keep current with all applicable AWS standards.
- Review blueprints to ensure all related welding call outs comply with WPS and PQR documentation.
- Utilize QMS software to
- manage successful completion of corrective actions that result in root cause determination and elimination of nonconformance.
- maintain data to provide direction in eliminating non-conformances.
- Perform quality inspections and maintain documentation.
- Provide support for production related to quality issues determining root cause and disposition of products.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve our Quality Management System and successfully implement those initiatives to maintain our ISO 9001 certification.
- Work with suppliers to ensure their processes continually produce quality products to MBW requirements.
- Work with internal departments to ensure processes are being adhered to.
- Maintain calibration program.
- Adhere to the MBW quality policy.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Experience: 5 years’ experience welding – GMAW steel and aluminum

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
This position will include a combination of standard office and production floor activities. Floor activities will require you to be on your feet, lift up to 30 lbs., possibly experience loud noises and welding dust. In the quality assurance aspect of the position, standing for long periods of time will be necessary when inspecting product quality.
