Job Description
Job Purpose:
Confirm the quality of incoming components and outgoing assemblies. Verify weldments conform to welding codes and drawings. Monitor tests and procedures. Document work. Assist resolving Nonconformances.
Essential Functions:
- First article inspection of close tolerance machined and/or welded parts from internal and external suppliers
- First article inspection of welded fabrications from internal and external suppliers
- Continuous surveillance audits of parts
- Resolution of shop floor issues
- Final Inspections of completed assemblies
- Correlate material test reports with part receipts
- Writing reports
- Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries; Assist in delivering required training to ensure that all coworkers have the necessary skills to perform their jobs properly and safely.
- Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (internal & external).
- Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Companywide policies to eliminate and/or reduce exposure to liability.
- Special projects or work as assigned.

Qualifications Guidelines
Experience/Training/Education:
Required: 3-5 years verifiable Weld and Quality Control inspection experience, High School Graduate, AWS certification or equivalent, Experienced blueprint reading, Familiar with GD&T, Familiar with and able to use hand metrology tools
Desired: PC experience, Trade School or Certifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Requires good communication, interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and follow instructions. Requires an eye for detail. Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable operating and documentation procedures and material flow; Ability to meet deadlines; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures; ability to accept constructive criticism; ability to prioritize, organize, solve problems, and complete tasks independently; ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, members of management, vendors, and other employees. Familiar with and able to follow ISO Standards, Independent self starter but able to work well with others in conflict resolution, must be able to use MS Word, and MS Excel, must be able to operate office equipment, Proficient in business communications, Mature attitude.
Physical and Environmental Elements:
This is a production classification and employees work both indoors and outdoors (in all seasons) with exposure to heat, cold, noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves considerable climbing, twisting, bending, squatting and kneeling for long periods of time. May lift parts that may weigh up to 60 pounds and pull approximately 20 lbs. Need to have the ability to ascend and descent a 20’ ladder and/or scaffolding.
