Job Description
RemX is seeking a Weld Engineer for our client in Catoosa, OK. This is an on-site role.
$40 hourly - Requires 1+ years Welding & AutoCAD experience.
The Job:
Specifies ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, and customer specification compliant welding procedures, weld joint configuration, and coordinates weld procedure/welder qualification by performing the following described duties:
Job Duties:
- Actively develop new welding procedures and welding methods.
- Liaison between Engineering & Header Bay personnel.
- Communicate with customers regarding welding issues.
- Review and assign Welding Procedure Specifications for jobs.
- Maintain welder qualifications and test methods for both the American Welding Society and Canadian Welding Bureau concerning the structure department.
- Calculate weld consumables.
- Maintain the Welding Procedure Specification and Procedure Qualification Report database with current procedures.
- Maintain and coordinate Pressure Equipment Directive Certification.
- Develop and publish Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Reports, and Tube-to-Tube Sheet mock-ups.
- Review and accommodate welding specifications.
- Submit requisitions for laboratory work.
Requirements:
- Personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, and AutoCAD.
- 1yr post-high school education specifically related to welding is required. (Vo-tech, military, & community college all considered.)
- BS engineering degree preferred.
- Must have a working knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, and Section IX.
- Must have working knowledge of AWS D1.1
- Must have knowledge of Strength of Materials and be able to perform basic engineering strength calculations.
- Must have a basic understanding of welding metallurgy & heat treatment.
- Preference is given to individuals with the following (or similar) certifications:
- AWS: CWI, CWEng, SCWI
- CWB: Certified welding supervisor, Certified welding engineer
- API: 510, 570, 653
