Essential Functions / Job Duties: The following duties are considered essential to the job. Qualified individuals must have the ability, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following duties, which is not an all-inclusive listing of responsibilities, but a general sampling of standard duties:
- Ability to read, understand and perform services as outlined in the Client Service Plan, which details the services to be provided for an in-home care client.
- Assists clients with required ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) which will include hands-on services:
- Personal hygiene: hair care, oral care , peri care
- Bathing: shower, tub or sink; utilizing safety devices and protocol as required
- Toileting: assistance with bladder (incontinency) and/or bowel issues (adult briefs); including ambulatory support to/from the bathroom, helping to safely sit and stand.
- Ambulation assistance; i.e. wheelchair, gait belt, walker, cane.
- Safe transfer assistance; i.e. to/from bed, chair, wheelchair, etc. as required.
- Knowledge of what to do in an emergency situation
- Safely transport client in personal vehicle/ client or company vehicle, if an approved driver
- Provide companionship, including but not limited to, walking, exercise, assistance with errands, shopping and accompaniment to appointments, etc.
- Assistance with light housekeeping duties; i.e. laundry, changing bed linens, vacuuming, taking out trash bringing in the mail, etc.
- Assistance with meal preparation, plant and pet care as needed.
- Monitor food expirations, provide medication reminders.
Secondary Functions/Job Duties: The following are secondary to the essential functions listed above:
- Maintains safety and health rules by participating in training along with implanting and following protocols related to OSHA and CDC regulations and Your Neighborhood Connection Standards, as required.
- Amends and participates in staff meetings, projects, special committees and mandatory training as required.
Education & Knowledge Requirements: Specific education, training, certification and/or licensure.
Required:
- Valid PA Driver’s License
- Motor Vehicle Record – Driving History Clearance
- Proof of Sufficient Auto Insurance Coverage
Essential Job-Related Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Ability to successfully complete the necessary physical movements for safe client transfers.
- Ability to complete and maintain documentation regarding client’s status.
- Ability to push, pull, stand, climb, sit and kneel with ease.
- Ability to be both physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of a caregiver.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
Exposure to Hazardous Conditions:
Preferred Job-Related Experience, Abilities & Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- C.N.A. certification and/or experience working in a healthcare facility or prior personal care private duty
