Summary
As an Outsystems Developer at Northeastern ITS you will be designing, building, testing and deploying web and mobile applications that provide business solutions for our clients. You will be responsible for understanding business requirements, technical development and configuration, maintenance and updates. Work you'll do Master low code and no code technologies combined with modern software engineering practices to design and develop innovative web and mobile business applications Design, build, test and deploy applications that provide business solutions Follow established timelines, application development standards and quality processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Manage application design, development, enhancements, break-fixes, standard application changes and maintenance activities Perform peer reviews on deliverables Interact with clients, project manager / scrum master / tech lead, onsite BA and QA teams, support teams and other cross-functional teams Communicate with client stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements and to answer questions/clarifications Identify and mitigate risk/issues and escalate to project manager / scrum master / tech lead as required Handle real time issues occurred and troubleshoot to resolve and identify root causes Define and implement best practices and procedures Mentor junior team members. As an OutSystems capability hire on this team, you would get opportunities to work on low code and no code solutions for various other projects using multiple other vendor solutions.
Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
25% of time:
Collaborate with a cross-functional team to understand requirements, communicate designs, and implement specifications. Create documentation around front-end design and development. Provide guidance and best practices to other web development teams.
40% of time:
Build various user experiences emphasizing responsive web design and accessibility. Integrate with third-party system and providers by consuming web services and collaborate with integration developers to design APIs and service interfaces.
25% of time:
Maintain Northeastern University's existing web applications to provide the most optimized experience. Implement new features and apply the latest technologies.
10% of time:
Apply quality measures around performance, security, and scalability. Participate in code review activities, development of unit tests and completing bug fixes
Note from Manager: I know the OutSystems experience can be a challenge being that it is application specific, though I think that experience is very beneficial being that it is a low-code platform and also for familiarity to navigate through the application itself, since that is the area this role would be spending the majority of their time doing dev work in. That being said, I'm not insistent that it would be a deal-breaker for a candidate to not have that experience if they have a strong React js and front-end developer experience to offer.
