Aptive is seeking a Web Developer with a strong background in both front-end and back-end development. The Web Developer will work closely with the UI/UX Designer, UX Developer, instructional designers, and other team members to support the PTSD Treatment Decision Aid for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This role involves a balanced focus on front-end development, back-end development, and database management to ensure a seamless, robust, and scalable application.
This is a full-time, remote position (with the option to work from Aptive's headquarters in Alexandria, VA) and is a contingent hire.
Primary Responsibilities- Collaborate with designers, project team members, and stakeholders to implement and maintain high-quality web applications.
- Develop and maintain robust, scalable front-end web applications using languages and frameworks such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Vue.js, or Angular.
- Develop back-end web applications using server-side languages and frameworks such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, C#, PHP, .NET, or Node.js.
- Ensure all delivered products are in compliance with section 508 and WCAG 2.1 A and AA for accessibility.
- Build and maintain database solutions, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and usability.
- Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure robustness and reliability.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 4+ years of web development experience, preferably in the public sector.
- Expert-demonstrated knowledge of building APIs and implementing business logic on back-end systems that are secure and scalable.
- Experience with cloud computing services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, C#, or PHP.
- Strong proficiency with database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Strong understanding of web accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Active Public Trust security clearance preferred; ability to obtain one required.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Experience supporting large federal agencies.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Experience developing for Salesforces.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Experience working within CMSs like WordPress, Drupal, and TeamSite and static site generators.
- Knowledge, usage, and maintenance of design systems, preferably the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
- Experience with relational databases and data modeling.
- Experience using web data analytics and SEO tools to improve performance.
- Experience with SharePoint administration.
