Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

The Village of Ripley Ohio is looking for a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our organization. The operator will perform tasks relating to the operation, maintenance and supervision of a Wastewater Treatment facility. This work will be performed on a regular or irregular schedule and will include assisting others in completing tasks similar to but not limited to the examples listed below.

Description of Tasks

• Operates all necessary treatment equipment with the waste water Treatment Plant.
• Prepares for and performs various tests and inspections.
• Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports necessary for Village and EPA compliance.
• Performs lesser-skilled work as required.
• Attends training required to stay abreast of regulations and job requirements.
• Plans and schedules work relating to shift coverage, maintenance and operation of the facility.
• Performs routine operational and maintenance tasks required.
• Maintains cleanliness of work area; supports other work areas; and supports standby duty on a rotating basis.
• Supports other departments as assigned.

Qualifications

Must meet the Villages requirements as to General Qualifications and in addition:

• Must possess a Class II Operator License in Waste Water.
• Must possess the ability to supervise and train other employees.
• Must be able to complete the Village, State, and Federal reporting requirements necessary for operation of the facility.
• Must understand basic budgeting processes to acquire supplies and control expenses.
• Must understand complex operating procedures and testing processes required by the Village and outside agencies.
• Must be able to work with the public, Village, State, and Federal officials as required

Additional Municipal Responsibilities:

• Assist departments of Electric and Streets as needed in emergencies or related staffing shortages.
• Understand and comply with budgetary requirements related to cost, efficiency and documentation.
• Must be able to respond to calls within 30 minutes.

The Village of Ripley is situated in Southeastern Ohio along the Ohio River on Route 52 with many historical elements of a quaint town. With a population of just over 1,700, the High and Elementary schools are located inside the village creating a close-knit community.
