Wastewater Treatment Operator - 2Nd Shift

Do you have Wastewater Treatment operations experience and looking to join a growing company in the Eastlake area on 2nd Shift?
In this position, you will operate and maintain the Wastewater Treatment system so that it meets effluent quality standards established by local, state, and federal environmental agencies while complying with all company policies an safety/PPE procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Day-to-day operations of the industrial Wastewater Treatment plant, which involves the performance of a variety of tasks, skilled and semi-skilled, to maintain and repair equipment, tanks, and pumps as needed. Monitoring meters, gauges, and performing testing of effluent to, based on the data gathered, make necessary adjustments to controls, valves, pumps and other electrical/mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment as required to adjust flow rates and add chemicals such as acids, caustics, and flocculants to various treatment processes.
• Responsible for daily testing of effluent, and sampling for analysis by an outside lab (including chain of custody documentation) as required by wastewater discharge permit.
• Inspect Wastewater Treatment plant equipment and facilities daily to locate needed repairs to plant equipment.
• Enter required data daily into a variety of logs and spreadsheets, and other documentation as assigned.
• Daily calibration of equipment as required.
• Plant chemical inventory, hazardous waste storage inspection and inventory log.
• Follows the established protocol for proper hazardous waste management, as defined in the Hazardous Waste Management Program Job Description for this position.
• Load hazardous waste into transporter's truck approximately every 90 days.
• Manage and maintain proper procedures and control of storage.
• Schedule and coordinate activities concerned with treatment of wastewater.

QUALIFICATIONS:



• Exceptional troubleshooter and problem-solver with solid detail and organizational skills.
• Must be able to assess problems and situations, able to anticipate needs and evaluate alternatives.
• Strong maintenance background in pumps, plumbing, and minor electrical repair.
• Basic math skills, with the ability to make calculations to determine if plant is operating correctly and effectively, and use the results to make necessary adjustments to maintain chemical balances and flow requirements.
• Five or more years' experience in Wastewater Treatment plant operations preferred, specifically relating to pH adjustment, metal precipitation, and clarification. In lieu of experience, knowledge and training in environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field may be considered.
• Ability to read and interpret meters and gauges that monitor the process and operations.
• Skill in the operation of a variety of lab equipment, pumps, gauges, and other common tools.
• Must be able to understand written and verbal instruction.
• Within 6 months of hire, needs Hazardous Waste Management Training and annually thereafter.
• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records
• Work under minimal supervision, making daily operating decisions in absence of supervisory personnel.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents.




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



• Must be able to occasionally push/pull/drag up to 100 lbs, carry up to 100 lbs with assistance, 35 lbs unassisted, and 20 lbs frequently.
• Must be able to be on your feet for the entire shift and climb up stairs; constant walking/standing.
• Frequent grasping; frequent bending/stooping and reaching; occasional squatting/crouching, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• See, read, and hear, including the ability to identify/hear system alarms.
• Must be able to use a shovel, common hand and power tools, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone, calculator and a variety of lab equipment.
• Ability to work alone, perform under stress, attain tolerance to set standards, and perform a variety of duties.
• Subject to noise, dust, fumes, chemicals and odors.

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 2:45pm - 11:15pm
Compensation: $20.45 - 26.54, depending on experience
