Trumbull Industries, Inc. Warehouseman MDC Warren, OH Operations 2nd Shift

Specific tasks include:

  • Filling orders
  • Checking outgoing & incoming shipments for accuracy
  • Preparing labels & shipping documents
  • Packing and palletizing
  • Weighing packages & calculating shipping costs
  • Recording package information
  • Routing incoming shipments to the proper departments
  • Transporting shipments to & from the loading dock by hand or with a fork lift

SOME AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION

One person is responsible for many different kinds of tasks.

  • Warehouse workers check incoming shipments to make sure that the contents are in good condition and that they match the original order and the accompanying invoice. If everything is correct, they record the arrival date and contents and then route the items to the proper departments. If there is a problem, they may return the shipment or contact the sender for a replacement or refund.
  • Warehouse workers, also called pickers or order fillers, retrieve merchandise for an order from a warehouse.
  • Warehouse workers, also called packers, check that orders have been picked correctly. They then package them according to the type of good and the purchaser's specifications.
  • Warehouse workers, also called shippers, make sure that orders have been filled and packed properly. They prepare shipping documents or mailing labels for each shipment. They may also weigh packages, calculate shipping costs, and record the weight, date sent and anticipated date of arrival. Once the shipment is ready, they move it from the factory or warehouse to the shipping dock where they direct loading of the shipment.
  • Warehouse workers, also called returns clerks, keep track of customer returns. They see that the correct goods go back to the warehouse, that replacement orders are sent correctly to the pickers, and that customer service representatives address any problems.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Warehouseman should be detail-oriented and customer focused.
  • They should have the ability to work with warehousing equipment, ranging from forklifts to wireless radio frequency scanners.
  • They should be able to perform tasks associated with heavy lifting and must have a high school diploma. They should know how to use a keyboard, do basic arithmetic, and should be comfortable using computers and computerized equipment.
  • Drug screens and fitness for duty exams are required for all warehouseman

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have the ability to use RF gun and function with a computerized Warehouse Management System.
  • Must be able unload, check in, inspect, and receive all incoming material. Must be able to label, sort, and transport material to loading dock.
  • Must be able to stock all incoming material.
  • Must be able to accurately pick, pack, assemble, stage, and load outgoing shipments. Must be able to identify the correct product and quantity for shipment.
  • Must be able to legibly process paperwork, and have the ability to work accurately with figures. Should have knowledge of Trumbull’s computer system.
  • Must have experience in operating material handling equipment.

TOOLS USED ON THE JOB:

Forklifts, Order Pickers, electric pallets jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment. Use of pneumatic nail guns and other power tools. Also need to use RF barcode readers and work with PC.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS ESSENTIAL TO JOB DUTIES:

Must be able to work in and out of the warehouse building. The warehouse is a stable and clear environment with controlled weather most of the time. It may be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Intermittent noise. Some dirty and dirty conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Overview

A warehouseman must be able to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, flatbed carts, 2-wheelers and other material handling equipment. They also must be able to stand / walk 5 to 8 hours per shift on a normal basis and up to 10 hours with occasional overtime. Locating and pulling product from warehouse locations involves frequent to continuous walking on concrete floors. Weight of material to be lifted is frequently up to 40 pounds, occasional up to 75 pounds, and rarely between 76-100 pounds.

Specific Requirements

  • Vision Requirements: At least 20/40 acuity in each eye with or without correction. At least 70˚ peripheral in horizontal meridian measured in each eye. The use of corrective lenses should be noted on employee personnel record. (A warehouseman must be able to read a ¼” letter or number that is on racking at a height of 15 feet)
  • Hearing Requirements: Must first perceive forced whispered voice ≥ 5 feet, with or without hearing aid, or average hearing loss in better ear ≤ 40 dB. (A warehouseman must be able to hear pedestrians or material handling equipment that may be passing through blind corners / intersections).
  • During the work shift, this job requires the warehouseman to:
    1. Sit up to 3 hours per day (
    2. Walk and carry up to 3 hours per day
    3. Stand up to 4 hours per day
    4. Drive up to 3 hours per day
  • During the work-shift, this job requires the warehouseman to lift or carry a variety of sizes and weights of plumbing and heating products, kitchen cabinets, appliances, municipal material, pipe, valves, fittings, and industrial products. The lifting will average 40 pounds on a constant basis for 5 to 8 hours per shift and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis. The lifting breakdown per shift is:
    1. 1-10 pounds - 1 to 3 hours per day
    2. 11-20 pounds - 1 to 3 hours per day
    3. 21-60 pounds - 1 to 3 hours per day
    4. 61-75 pounds - up to 1 hour per day
    5. 76-100 pounds - never by himself / herself
  • During the work shift, this job requires the warehouseman to perform the following:
    1. Push / Pull - 1 to 3 hours per day (Pallet jack, two-wheel hand trucks)
    2. Carry material - 1 to 3 hours per day (from the nose of a trailer to the dock area
    3. Climb Stairs / Ladders - 1 to 3 hours per day (Docks, truck beds)
    4. Work at Heights up to 15 feet - 1 to 3 hours per day (Order Pickers, ladders)
    5. Balance on Platforms up to 15 feet - 1 to 3 hours per day (Order Pickers, ladders)
    6. Kneel / Crouch / Squat / Crawl - 1 to 3 hours per day
    7. Bend / Twist at Waist - 3 to 5 hours per day
    8. Bend / Twist at Neck - 3 to 5 hours per day
    9. Reach (at or below shoulder) - 3 to 5 hours per day
    10. Reach (at or above shoulder) - 1 to 3 hours per day
    11. Simple Grasp - 5 to 8 hours per day
    12. Power Grasp – 3 to 5 hours per day
    13. Fine Manipulation / Pinch - 3 to 5 hours per day (Packing, paperwork, labeling)
