Warehouse Worker

Job Summary:

Dakota Mill & Grain, Inc. is a family-owned South Dakota Agribusiness headquartered in Rapid City, South Dakota. We are currently seeking a warehouse/grain elevator associate to provide excellent customer service with the loading/unloading of grain, feed, seed, chemical, and retail store merchandise. This will include working outside in the elevator and warehouse lifting and carrying 50 pounds unassisted repetitively and frequently throughout the shift, and operating a forklift, manual pallet jack, hand cart, and bobcat.

Essential Functions:

• Loading and unloading grain trucks, flatbeds, and van trailers
• Cleaning duties include, by not limited to, shoveling grain, sweeping dust and grain, cleaning under belts, and vacuuming and sweeping tunnels or boot pits.
• Shoveling grain and clearing choked grain
• Moving spouts and trippers
• Climbing stairs and ladders
• Cleaning bins, entering confined spaces
• Opening railcar hopper bottom and railcar lids
• Complete various maintenance tasks
• Effective teamwork and communication
• Dependable and reliable work attendance

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

• Pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and physical.
• Bobcat and forklift experience helpful, but not required
• Ability to work overtime as required, including some weekends
• Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally
• Positive, professional attitude and strong work ethic
• Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping on all job sites
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment as directed by the supervisor and safety team
• Maintain acceptable personal hygiene

Physical Requirements

• Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift with or without assistance
• Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
• Standing/working on feet for extended periods and walking across uneven terrain, climbing up and down ladders and stairways
• Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, etc.
• Frequent exposure to noise and dust
• Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment
• Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and overtime as required
