Warehouse Specialist - Trainee

MentorWorks Education Capital, a workforce development company, is looking for aWarehouse Specialist - Trainee to join one of our employer partners. Candidates will be screened by the MentorWorks team. If selected, the candidate will move on in the process to our employment partner.

Position Summary: Responsible for performing warehouse duties, including scanning cartons, labeling, preparing product for shipment, overall warehouse and inventory maintenance, and duties as assigned by supervisors.

  • Communicates with supervisor/manager as needed
  • Scanning Cartons
  • Accurately fills orders
  • Packages, labels, stacks, and wraps materials for safe shipping
  • Follow appropriate shipping instructions
  • Keeps warehouse areas organized, swept, clean, and hazard free
  • Follow all company safety codes
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the warehouse supervisor/manager
  • Participate in all aspects of warehouse and equipment maintenance and organization

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one year warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.

Mathematical Ability:

Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Familiarity with Microsoft products is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

Forklift certification may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position works in a warehouse setting and requires the use of standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Minimal to no travel is required.

Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and count, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk, stoop, sit, climb, carry, and balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
