Receives, maintains, issues, and inventory control of any supplies/materials stocked in the warehouse.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Receives, stocks, stores, issues, delivers, and accounts for items ordered by county departments or stocked in the warehouse.
Performs daily opening/closing procedures; unlocks warehouse; initiates operation of equipment; inspects for any problems occurring since previous business day; obtains keys, gate opener, and pager for courier; locks/secures warehouse at end of day.
Maintains inventory of warehoused materials; organizes stock to facilitate identification and location of stock items; places stock items into assigned area; checks placement of items stocked by inmate workers; maintains proper storage of parts, supplies, tools, and materials; monitors security of items stored of transported to/from warehouse, with special attention to sensitive items such as firearms, ammunition, and other munitions.
Monitors inventory levels to ensure adequate quantities; initiates orders for new or replacement materials; assists in conducting periodic inventory counts of materials in stock.
Assists in organizing/coordinating deliveries of materials; delivers/unloads materials via forklift at various departments/locations; makes deliveries in the absence of courier.
Receives or picks up surplus items for storage; documents receipt of surplus items; reissues surplus items.
Receives incoming packages and deliveries; inspects deliveries to verify receipt of correct materials and of entire order; records/logs all deliveries in receiving book.
Processes shipment of return orders, damaged parts, and warranty parts; packages materials and weighs packages for shipping, logs outgoing shipments.
Maintains records of warehouse/inventory activities.
Performs data entry of inventory, purchasing, and materials data; enters, retrieves, reviews or modifies data in computer database; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, database, or other software programs.
Prepares or receives various forms, reports, correspondence, shipping logs, inventory reports, production reports, store issuance forms, material safety data sheets, catalogs, directories, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes. Forwards or retains as appropriate.
Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with department activities, which may include a utility truck, van, forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, leaf blower, ladder, hand saw, hacksaw, rake, shovel, mechanic tools, facsimile machine, microfiche printer, copy machine, calculator, two-way radio, or telephone.
Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, refueling vehicles, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, or cleaning shop/work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; coordinates preventive maintenance of equipment; reports faulty equipment.
Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.
Communicates via telephone and/or two-way radio; provides information and assistance; records/relays messages; responds to requests for service or assistance.
Initiates communication with vendors regarding orders, problems, prices, discrepancies, or related issues.
Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, vendors/suppliers, shipping/mailing agencies, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Supervises warehouse operations in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor.
Conducts various errands as needed, such as picking up or delivering mail, or assisting in unloading supplies at county departments.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving warehouse operations or inventory control; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, pollen, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, explosives, or traffic hazards.
