Job Title: Warehouse Manager
Reports to: Senior Manager - Warehouse
The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for managing all day-to-day operations within the warehouse by overseeing the operations staff successfully execute the tasks of order selection, replenishment, receiving, put-away, and inventory control. The Warehouse Manager will also be responsible for managing the loading and wrapping of all outbound orders daily. The loading consists of performing a quality check to ensure accurate orders and pallet stability to help provide damage-free delivery for customer orders. These tasks are expected to be completed in the most productive and efficient means possible, meeting our customers’ highest expectations while achieving a set budget.
The Warehouse Manager will be overseeing a work force that is predominantly unionized but may also include some temporary and non-union personnel. A thorough understanding of the most current Collective Bargaining Agreement, its rules and regulations will be required.
The Warehouse Manage will also be expected to work in collaboration with all other warehouse staff and administration to ensure a smoothly run operation and must be effective in communicating with other departments to address all business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Timecards – Accurately manage/approve all your employees’ timecards regarding time clock punches and time-off requests.
- Succession Planning – Groom employees who wish to pursue growth opportunities. Continually develop and cross-train your team. Develop back-ups for every position so that in the event of an open job position someone is ready to step in.
- Conflict Resolution – Address and defuse any conflicts that present themselves between personnel or departments. Conflicts are inevitable and may not always be resolved, but how they are managed can make a greater impact upon the perception by the employees.
- Technology – Use all available technology to your advantage. The proper use of these tools could potentially lead to increased efficiency, improved productivity, improved accuracy, cost savings and more informed decision-making capabilities.
- Expiration Dates – Ensure expiration dates are being updated into Scale accurately for all applicable items being received.
Safety
- Promote a Safe Work Environment – Lead by example. Speak about safety during team meetings. Offer safety tips regularly.
- Equipment Safety - Promote/encourage the safe operation of motorized equipment within the warehouse. Hold equipment operators accountable for any accidents and damage caused to the facility (racks, bollards, concrete, sprinklers, etc....).
- Injuries – Soft goal of zero injuries within the department.
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety through experience and initiatives.
- Ability to direct the training, motivation, and development of personnel with area of responsibility.
- Advanced knowledge of production planning, product flow, inventory control, and the product and its application.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Relevant experience in a supervisor or leadership role
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
- Prior experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Proficiency in using motorized warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.)
- Some flexibility on shift coverage will be required for this position to manage every other Saturday in a rotation with the other Warehouse managers.
