General Description:

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for completing assigned warehouse duties to ensure customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction. The Warehouse Manager does this by overseeing and supervising all warehouse team members in the completion of unloading inbound materials, staging, and loading of all finished products for shipment to off-site Byrne facilities from Ultra. The Warehouse Manager also directs the warehouse team in accomplishing specified tasks set by facility management and oversees training of warehouse personnel aligned with warehouse protocol. The Warehouse Manager completes these functions in support of the distribution of extended shelf life dairy and non-dairy related products.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the flow of finished products from the palletizers to the outbound reefer trailers is efficiently maintained during production periods to support the expected production efficiencies of the filler lines.
  2. Manage Repro between SCS/Ultra and oversee team members in the utilization of it into batching operations.
  3. Responsible for achieving assigned goals in the area of warehouse, safety, quality, performance, and cost.
  4. Oversee training of warehouse personnel in warehouse equipment, protocol, and systems (i.e., forklifts, inventory cycle counts, FIFO).
  5. Ensure accurate record keeping and document control practices and filing of product movement within the warehouse (inventory).
  6. Audit the work of warehouse personnel to ensure accuracy, quality and work completed in a timely fashion.
  7. Ensure completion of performance evaluations and merit increase forms and provide recommendations for pay adjustments, promotions, and /or disciplinary action while working with Production Managers.
  8. Conduct periodic warehouse walks to inspect product, racking and equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) for safety, damage and/or shrink.
  9. Monitor and coordinate daily orders and distribute accordingly to warehouse personnel.
  10. Communicates effectively between shifts and other departments – verbally and in writing.
  11. Supervise warehouse team by example to gain trust and integrity.
  12. Handle employee inquiries and solve problems while maintaining confidentiality.
  13. Foster an “open door” policy for all employees to maintain an open line of communication between direct reports and management staff.
  14. Notify others of mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities and begin to identify areas where operators can assist in resolving concerns.
  15. Responsible for complying with GMP/GWP’s, SOP’s, corporate and/or warehouse policies, rules, and regulations.
  16. Aids and supports all areas in the warehouse facility as assigned by supervisor and trains and builds competence of staff on key areas in warehouse such as forklifts, inventory control, FIFO, etc.
  17. Covers breaks and lunches and other staffing needs as assigned by their supervisor/lead.
  18. Compliant with all legal requirements concerning safety on their assigned shift and reports concerns to their supervisor.
  19. Works in a safe manner and reports safety concerns promptly to their supervisor/lead and takes corrective actions as necessary to ensure a safe environment.
  20. Responsible for reporting food safety problems and initiating action and for supporting SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality.
  21. Maintain compliance with S.Q.F. certification and GMP expectations.
  22. Ensures work areas are sanitary and strictly adheres to sanitation practices. Specifically, routinely oversee the cleaning of the palletizers and the repro area to adhere to warehouse policies.
  23. Maintain quality product by constantly inspecting finished product pallets.

Essential Knowledge, Skills:

  1. Ability to apply basic to complex mathematical concepts such as adding, counting, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and knowledge of weights and measure, to sufficiently handle job tasks.
  2. Understand and respond appropriately to basic to complex employee, vendor, and customer inquiries.
  3. Read, write, and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (Other preferences will be given for special language skills when there is a business need).
  4. Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals, and your role in achieving each of them.
  5. Ability to operate facility equipment as required in assigned area.
  6. Satisfactorily complete all company training requirements.
  7. Ability to interpret company documents and literature and UPC/code information.
  8. Knowledge of general computer functions such as Microsoft Office programs, spreadsheets, etc.
  9. Knowledge and proficiency in all warehouse management systems and other systems.
  10. Knowledge of warehouse procedures (Cycle counts and Inventory management)
  11. Knowledge of principles, methods, and problems of operating business functions
  12. Skill to actively seek out and identify opportunities.
  13. Ability to trust, develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.
  14. Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously.

  16. Knowledge of applicable PMO and internal operating guidelines for quality, including OSHA, SQF, and other regulatory entity protocols and regulations.
  17. Ability to shape and express ideas and information in an effective and public manner through verbal presentations.

Education/Experience:

  1. A minimum of GED or High School Diploma is required.
  2. Previous experience with supervising direct reports preferred.

Performance Standards:

  1. Responsible for reporting to work at scheduled times and communicating tardiness and absences with the assigned Supervisor/Manager prior to the occurrence.
  2. Responsible for reporting to work in a condition to work.
  3. Responsible for being well-groomed and dressed in a business-and position-appropriate attire at all times including ensuring compliance with GMP dress code standards.
  4. Comply with performance criteria, standards of conduct as contained in company policy, employment procedures and responsibilities as described in the company handbook.
  5. Maintain a safe work environment at all times and immediately report and take appropriate action to correct a safety concern.
  6. Responsible for completing all assigned tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
  7. Responsible for supervising and leading by example, while providing motivational support to recognize and reward people for their achievements.

Work Schedule:

  1. Requires morning, afternoon, and overnight availability any day of the week based on assigned shift.
  2. Requests to be scheduled off for a specific day require advance notification and approval by Supervisor/Manager.
  3. Salaried: Generally scheduled for 40-45 hours; more hours may be required based on the needs of the business.

Environmental Concerns:

  1. Normally protected from weather and temperature changes possible exposure to hot cold wet, humid, or windy weather conditions does exist.
  2. May be subject to exposure to ingredients used in the manufacture of food products including allergens.
  3. May be subject to exposure to chemicals involved in the manufacture and sanitation of a food processing facility.

Physical Job Requirements:

  1. Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility including but not limited to office, production, and warehouse environments. Including the outside perimeter of the building.
  2. Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions.
  3. Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break.
  4. Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and move objects exceeding 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
  5. Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions.

The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Byrne, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,500 - $98,131.
