We're looking for an in-house technician or handyman responsible for maintenance of our food manufacturing facility and fulfillment warehouse. This position demands a versatile individual capable of handling diverse tasks, often with the need for problem-solving and improvisation due to the lack of local experts or the necessity to manage tasks in-house.
Key Responsibilities:
Heating System Maintenance: Modify and maintain heating elements in air drying machines, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
Plumbing: Skilled in repairing faucets, managing drainage systems, and utilizing electric snakes for clearing floor drains. Must have a fundamental understanding of plumbing systems and be able to perform routine maintenance and repairs.
Electrical Tasks: Possess basic electrical knowledge, capable of changing breakers, replacing bulbs, and performing minor electrical repairs and installations.
Machine Maintenance: Maintain and repair various machines used in operations, such as meat grinders, slicers, band-saws, bag sealers, air-driers, and freeze-driers. This includes routine checks, cleaning, and ensuring they are functioning correctly.
Refrigeration Systems: Handle routine maintenance and recharging of refrigeration units including freezers and fridges. Must be able to diagnose common issues and perform repairs as needed.
Warranty and Parts Management: Take charge of managing warranties for various equipment, ensuring that tools and parts are adequately stocked and organized. Responsible for liaising with suppliers for parts ordering and warranty claims.
General Facility Maintenance: Address various maintenance tasks around the facility, including but not limited to structural repairs, painting, and general upkeep.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance role.
- Broad knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve maintenance issues.
- Strong organizational skills, particularly in managing parts and tools.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and external suppliers.
- Flexibility and adaptability to handle a variety of tasks.
- Relevant certifications in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical fields are a plus.
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
- Experience with all commercial power tools
- Experience with all commercial tool rental stores (all the tools from Sunbelt/BJ’s, Home Depot)
- Valid Driver's License
Working Conditions:
The role requires both indoor and outdoor work, often involving physical tasks and the use of various tools and machinery. The candidate must be comfortable working in different environments and occasionally under time constraints.
