General Summary
Under the leadership of the Operations Supervisor, the Shipping Clerk will be responsible for document control and keying in various information into our company systems. The primary focus is to maintain the highest levels of shipment accuracy to ensure timely and accurate shipment of product thereby maximizing efficiency and customer compliance. Activities could include: data entry, data analysis, order reconciliation, and ensuring that shipments executed correctly and accurate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with the Supervisor, ensure work assignments are assigned and that all materials picked, staged and shipped are checked properly and placed in the proper staging / stock locations and loaded on appropriate trailer.
- Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments.
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and record keeping.
- Ensuring that all mail (hard copy and electronic) is processed in a timely manner
- Keeping accurate records of transactions being performed on inbound and outbound material
- Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials
- Confer and correspond with various personnel to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and non-conformance to specifications
- Update the product inventory as products are received and added to our inventory
- Maintaining paper and electronic files in accordance with established Records and Information Management standards
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.
- Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
- Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.
- Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Other Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; Some College degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years warehouse experience required; some office/clerical experience preferred.
- Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) experience preferred.
- Previous use of ERP systems preferred.
· Able to work in various temperature controlled environments including temperatures below freezing.
· Strong sense of urgency; flexibility in meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong team player.
- Computer proficiency: proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar suite (Excel experience required)
- Understanding of general work practices in warehousing and distribution, including order picking, packing, inventory, and shipping processes and procedures.
- Dedicated to business and willing to adjust schedule and hours as needed to manage department
