Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The Warehouse Carpenter plays a key role in the manufacturing of Structural CLT panels at Sterling. This position works closely with Leadership and Teammates mastering the machining methods, techniques, and quality standards associated with the machining phase of the panel manufacturing process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Layout and prepare CLT panels (pre-machining set-up) to meet drawing dimensions, specifications, and quality standards for machining tolerances.
- Learn and master the use of hand power tools including circular saw, beam chain saw, and notch cutters for daily operation.
- Read, understand, and interpret shop drawings.
- Confirmation of set-up and layout (pre-cut quality check).
- Self-checks include cut dimensional and cut quality/appearance checks.
- Asist teammates on the quality of workmanship.sA
- Check the panel cut dimensions and workmanship of teammates.
- Keep all tools and supplies organized and properly maintained.
- Promotes self-safety via conforming practices to JSA's and Work Instructions, the wearing of all appropriate PPE, correct use of all hand and power tools, and keeping the workspace/floor clear of debris and clutter.
- Promote the safety of teammates.
- Follow cleanliness and tool standards via the 5S visual factory standards and end-of-day clean-up and tool placements.
- Help and assist whenever required by the area leader, including rotation to other machining and finishing stations to support the overall operation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND:
- Trade School certification (a plus)
- Journeyman Carpenter (a plus)
- Woodworking and Mechanical aptitude.
- Experience operating power tools.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions.
- Must demonstrate attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Strong understanding of dimensional tolerances and able to convert from decimals to fractions.
- Proficiency with tape measure and digital calipers.

Pay: $22.41 - $26.00 per hour
