JOB SUMMARY
The primary objectives of this position are to effectively train volunteers in the product recovery area, including effective coordination on all aspects of the salvage operation, inventory management (as it pertains with the Inventory Department), quality control, and cleanliness of the product recovery area. This position requires effective communication with various departments and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
· Works cooperatively with Receiving Manager
· Follows proper procedures for equipment maintenance and reports any malfunctions immediately
· Keeps accurate, legible log of the weights, temperatures, and sources of all food donated
· Maintains accurate and complete records on receipt, disbursements, and loss of food
· Supervise and train all volunteers in the product recovery area
· Conduct orientations and training of new volunteers in the product recovery area
· Inspect and evaluate incoming food and stored perishables for spoilage and contamination. Arranges product for request removal of inedible products
· Practices FIFO procedures
· Keep all salvage work areas clean and sanitary; remove trash and debris; work in a clean and safe area
· Sweep, mop, and dispose of trash in a sanitary and safe manner
· Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other heavy equipment in a safe manner
· Comply with all health regulations and other laws that govern food handling
· Evaluates existing procedures and recommends improvements to the Receiving Manager
· Complies with all Feeding America, Feeding Texas, Texas Department of Agriculture, and the rules and regulations of the Food Bank of the RGV, Inc.
· Perform general office duties such as copying, faxing, filing, etc.
· Coordinate and report all activities and track data on a weekly basis
· Assist, inspect, and evaluate incoming product for distribution for spoilage and/or contamination
· Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures
· Assist with reports as needed
· Ability to perform math calculations for program reporting
· Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
· Work cooperatively with various departments and volunteers
· Perform additional duties as assigned by the Receiving Manager

· Must have clear understanding of and ability to articulate the mission of the FBRGV
· Ability to politely be firm and decisive. Good judgement and discretion
· Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel
· Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision
· Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines
· Bilingual English/Spanish
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
· Ability to represent the Food Bank in a courteous professional manner
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma, Associate’s degree (preferred)

· Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 50lbs, perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment
· Strong customer service skills and willingness to assist others.
· Able to communicate information clearly.
· Attentive to detail.
· Able to coordinate well with other departments and personnel.

Pay: $11.24 per hour
