TITLE: Warehouse Assistant

REPORTS TO: Director of Purchasing and Warehouse

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

• To assist the Warehouse Manager in day-to-day operations including order preparation, helping customers, loading, and unloading of supplies, and other daily responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read and assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves or relocate orders to a holding area.
• Greet and assist customers to answer questions and help with problem solving
• Assist with cycle counts of physical inventory
• Assist manager with shipping, receiving, unloading trucks, and checking in merchandise.
• Warehouse facilities maintenance duties as needed.
• Assist other warehouse processes as needed
• All other duties assigned by supervisor

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position may require some tasks to be performed in outside weather conditions.
• The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.

PHYSICALITY REQUIREMENTS

• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
• Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.
• The employee must be able to continuously repeat necessary movements such as bending, lifting and different hand movements as needed to complete tasks
• Ability to lift 40 pounds along with climbing up ladders and over gates
• Ability to climb in and out of livestock trailers that can be as short as 48 inches in height

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

• This is a full-time position that will require a minimum of 40 hours per week
• Expected days and hours of operation include day-shift hours Monday-Fridays
• Additional availability may be required during staffing challenges

TRAVEL

• Might include occasional travel

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

• GED and/or High school equivalent is preferred.
