Wadesboro, NC: Contract Special Education Teacher (Self-contained)

Calling on North-Carolina Teachers with a teaching certificate in Special Education, and who want to work with students in a self-contained classroom!
Soliant has partnered with a school district near Wadesboro, NC, and is seeking a contract teacher for the remainder of the school year. This will be a 12-week assignment, with strong opportunities for renewal for the next school year.
Primary duties consist of:

• Developing and implementing instructional plans which correspond with the District's curricular goals and meet the goals of students' IEPs.
• Using formal and informal diagnostic assessment information to determine student needs and services, as appropriate.
• Collecting and maintaining information on student progress, utilizing a range of tools from data collection to formal and informal assessments of student work and conduct
• Supervising student behavior, i.e. maintaining discipline in the classroom; deescalating inappropriate behaviors; and guiding students in appropriate behavior strategies.
• Assisting students with their personal and self-help needs, such as eating and toileting
• Collaborating with the General Education Teachers
• municating with parents regarding their child’s educational progress through oral and written progress reports.
• Acting as a case manager for all students.
• Consulting with munity services, school support professionals, and parents to better meet the student’s needs.
• Maintaining accurate and timely student records in accordance with the District guidelines

• Candidates with experience in ECATS, the database utilized by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, preferred

Requirements:

• North Carolina Teacher license in one of the following areas: Cross Categorical (mild-moderate disabilities), Specific Learning Disabled, Severely-Profoundly Disabled, Mentally Disabled, Behaviorally/Emotionally Disabled
