The Vice President of Strategy & Operations will assist in the execution of POLITICO’s long-term strategy development and execution and will work in partnership with newsroom and business leaders on key initiatives and projects. The VP Strategy & Operations will oversee the company’s Strategy & Operations team focusing on working with leaders across the company to operationalize our five-year strategic plan through the OKR framework. This team is also responsible analyzing the company’s performance against plan and reporting on the company’s progress on a regular, frequent basis. This includes regular monitoring of the competition and reporting on POLITICO’s position in the market. Finally, in partnership with the COO, the VP will be responsible for evaluating corporate development and M&A opportunities.   

The ideal candidate will be a leader who has excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills, and is someone who can build strong, collaborative relationships with other executives and key stakeholders. This position reports both into the Chief Operating Officer and another member of POLITICO’s Senior Leadership Team.

What You’ll Do:

• Partner with leaders across the organization to operationalize the company’s five-year strategic plan through the development of annual operating plans and the OKR framework
• Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to produce monthly/quarterly reporting on progress against our strategic and annual operating goals
• Lead the quarterly OKR process with internal stakeholders and drive adoption of OKRs as key operational tool to deliver and track results
• Monitor the competitive landscape and develop a framework for regular tracking and reporting of the competition
• Evaluate corporate development opportunities and lead the evaluation of potential M&A opportunities in partnership with the COO
• Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities and build business cases for growth opportunities across the portfolio
• Find opportunities to collaborative and establish processes between POLITICO North America and POLITICO Europe when it comes to our strategic initiatives
• Produce regular presentations that effectively tell the story of the company’s progress for important stakeholders, like the CEO and the Executive Team, and also the Executive Board of Axel Springer and the Advisory Board.

What You’ll Need:

• 7+ years of experience in a management consulting, investment banking, VC/PE, or digital media strategy
• Experience translating strategic plans into annual operating plans
• Exceptional project management, communication, and analytical skills
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions
• Strong financial modeling and presentation writing skills (MS Excel & MS PowerPoint)
• Background in politics and policy and/or media is strongly preferred
• Experience working on a cross-functional and global team and prior management experience are preferred
• Excellent proficiency in English; additional languages (especially French and German) are a plus
