BrightFarms is a national leader in the booming indoor farming industry, transforming how produce is grown and delivered with its expanding network of high-tech, sustainable hydroponic farms. We currently operate six high-tech greenhouse farms, with four new regional salad greenhouse hubs breaking ground to begin opening in 2024. BrightFarms' fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 3,700 retail stores across the East Coast and Midwest.
The VP Sales Strategy will be responsible for providing vision for category transformation in salads, building business cases, and utilizing data and analytics to support 10x growth for BrightFarms over the next 5 years. This candidate will enable the organization to enhance its competitive position through insights and best-in-class trade and merchandising execution. He/she will play a critical role in defining and implementing strategies to maintain and grow the brand's market share and profitability. They will also communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including executive leadership of both BrightFarms and Cox Enterprises (fully acquired BrightFarms in 2021), regarding the progress and results of these initiatives.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess a deep technical understanding of revenue management, commercial strategy and strategic pricing. She/he must have a strong analytical background and proven ability to execute commercial strategies, with strong knowledge of project and program management. The individual must have excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization. She/he should also possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit and be comfortable working in a fast-paced growing organization with cross-functional partners to innovate.
Specifically, you will:
- Develop commercial sales strategies to transform the salad category from a long-distance commoditized supply chain to a fresher and more sustainable quality focused supply
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual customer business planning process for the brand in collaboration with sales
- Utilize syndicated data to develop recommendations on product and pricing strategy across all BrightFarms customers
- Develop a future channel strategy for BrightFarms expansion including retail, club and foodservice
- Work in partnership with the customer sales team to optimize trade investment for both sales growth and margin enhancement
- Work in partnership with the marketing and innovation teams on providing market & competitive insights for future brand strategy
- Coach, develop and manage a team including Director of Insights & Category Management, Director of Trade Development and analysts
The ideal candidate:
Has a 4 year degree, MBA preferred (though not required)
Has a minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing/sales within the CPG or food sector or management consulting within CPG
Can demonstrate experience in revenue growth management functions including:
trade and pricing analysis
category management and sales planning
Possesses a deep understanding of the P&L and levers to drive value creation
Has a proven track record of brand/business value creation
Preferred Qualifications
