Job description

PRO-Spectus is searching for an experienced Vice President of Market Access to work remotely. The VP of Market Access is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing Market Access strategies to optimize product reimbursement, coverage, and overall market success. This position requires a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, payer dynamics, regulatory environments, and pricing strategies. This role ensures ongoing assessment and adaptation of strategies to maintain Market Access and garner market share and works collaboratively with Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Finance, and Clinical Development.
As the VP of Market Access you will:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Market Access strategies for products, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory Affairs, to integrate Market Access considerations into product development and commercialization plans.
  • Oversee pricing strategies, ensuring alignment with market dynamics, competitive landscape, and payer expectations.
  • Negotiate and manage reimbursement agreements with payers, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Analyze and interpret reimbursement policies and trends to inform pricing and Market Access decisions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key payer organizations, including private payers, government agencies, and managed care organizations.
  • Collaborate with payers to secure favorable reimbursement and coverage for products, addressing any barriers to Market Access.
  • Utilize data and market intelligence to assess Market Access opportunities and challenges.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in reimbursement policies, payer behaviors, and healthcare economics.
  • Stay informed about regulatory requirements and compliance related to Market Access.
  • Work closely with Regulatory Affairs to ensure all Market Access activities align with applicable regulations.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing Market Access team, providing guidance and support in executing strategic initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture within the Market Access function.
  • The ability to direct, lead, and manage remote teams across various time zones.
  • Department infrastructure responsibilities include process design, management of client contract terms, department deliverables, and governance of the Market Access function and Market Access forecast/budget.

In order to be successful in the role you must possess:
  • BS Degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, healthcare administration, public health); Advanced degree a plus.
  • 8- 10 years of relevant experience and a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, payer dynamics, regulatory environments, and pricing strategies.
  • 8+ years’ experience in people management and in leading remote teams.
  • Extensive experience in Market Access, reimbursement, and pricing within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare policy, payer dynamics, and regulatory landscape.
  • Experience working in a consulting role.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed
