Job description

The VP, IT & Digital Business Solutions (DBS) is responsible for the establishment and execution of ConMet’s global digital strategy, ensuring its alignment with the enterprise’s overall business strategy. As a key member of the ConMet leadership team, this role brings a current knowledge and future vision of leveraging information and technology to deliver compelling business value. This role leads a team of IT, DBS (Applications), and IT Security professionals dedicated to providing innovative, reliable, and secure technology solutions, while maintaining a focus on delivering a best-in-class digital experience with exceptional service. This role is ultimately responsible for ensuring the cybersecurity of ConMet, collaborating with peers across Amsted to protect the organization from threats.

This role requires working in an office environment (not hybrid or remote) at ConMet's corporate headquarters in Vancouver, Washington.   Non-local candidates must be open to relocation (relocation assistance available. 

Key Duties  

  • Sets the mission and vision of the IT & DBS organization to maximize the success of the business and IT & DBS enterprise initiatives.
  • Leads development of the IT & DBS strategy & roadmap, ensuring its integration with the enterprise’s strategic planning process and the resulting business strategy & plan.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor, builds & maintains relationships with members of the ConMet leadership team, business unit leaders, and other key stakeholders. Develops a clear understanding of business needs and ensures cost-effective delivery of IT & DBS systems & solutions to meet those needs. Is able to respond with agility to changing priorities, in order to achieve business goals.
  • Provides strategic direction & oversight for the design, development, operation, and support of IT & DBS systems and solutions that fulfill the needs of the business, including enterprise IT (architecture, infrastructure, & operations), DBS (applications), and IT Security (security, compliance, & risk) management.
  • Maintains currency on new technologies & platforms and provides direction on what emerging technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the enterprise to ensure IT & DBS capabilities respond to the needs of the business. Provides strategic direction in the IT & DBS organization’s innovation efforts and role in experimenting with new solutions to take advantage of opportunities in the fulfillment of ConMet’s Digital Business strategy.
  • Maintains a focus on cybersecurity and protecting the enterprise from threats. Provides oversite and guidance, working closely with the Director, IT Security & Compliance to ensure information assets and associated technology, applications, systems, infrastructure, and processes are adequately protected. Ensures best practices are followed for business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Serves on both ConMet & Amsted IT-related councils, panels, and planning & policymaking committees to drive the development of enterprise technology standards, governance processes, and performance metrics. Acts as a key member of the Amsted Cyber Council, collaborating with peers on efforts to protect the company from cyber threats.
  • Works with HR to develop a talent strategy that aligns with current and future business and IT & DBS strategies. Provides leadership, coaching, and direction to the IT & DBS leadership team and staff, maintaining a focus on development planning & opportunities. Continually looks for innovative solutions to the recruitment, development, and retention of the IT & DBS workforce.
  • Develops and controls annual operating and capital expenditure budget to ensure it is consistent with overall IT & DBS objectives and is within plan.
  • Enhances the capabilities of IT & DBS by leveraging a multitude of resources, both internally and externally. Directs the development of an IT& DBS sourcing strategy and provides oversight for strategic vendor and partner relationship management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (with area of study in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred), or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in IT.
  • Minimum 10+ years in a leadership/management role.

Compensation & Benefits  

 The full salary range for the position, across all geographies, is $165,000 - $265,000 per year.  The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.

  • Targeted annual bonus is based on company performance to objectives during the fiscal plan year which runs from October 1 – September 30.

  • Vacation plan – ConMet offers exempt employees a paid vacation benefit that provides the flexibility to take time off from work based on factors including good discretion, sound performance, and consideration of overall team and business needs.
  • Paid sick leave up to 10 days (80 hours) per calendar year.
  • ConMet offers an extremely strong retirement package:
    • ESOP - Participation (100% company paid) in the ConMet/Amsted Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP). The Company contributes 10% of considered compensation into this plan each fiscal year.
    • 401k - The Company provides a 401(k) Plan with a 4% employer contribution match.
  • Ten paid holidays per year.
