The individual in the Chief Architect role will, reporting to the SVP Product Strategy, Architecture and Platforms, be the primary technology and architecture thought leader for Sabre. In that role, s/he will continue to refine and evolve our technology vision, act as an internal and external evangelist for Sabre's technology strategy and help drive technology strategy and technology adoption and deployment.
This individual will be accountable for shaping our technology strategy, elucidating our North Star (in terms of platforms) and its realization across our platform, product and systems, organizational and process strategy, architectural leadership at the enterprise level, team leadership and mentoring, delivery leadership, and the support and development of the teams and team members for which s/he is responsible - which may include:

• Enterprise Architecture
• Solution Architecture
• Developer Productivity
• Our Next Generation Platform
• Security Systems
• Connectivity Systems

Technical Skills and Experience:

• Solid engineering background that does not shy away from code reviews, writing detailed engineering and architectural documentation and policy guidelines. Sabre engineering culture respects servant leaders that are not shy about getting their hands dirty.
• Detailed knowledge of mainframe, mid-range, and cloud-native systems and development, deployment and operational practices.
• Worked in organizations that have large product management and engineering teams that have produced and shipped B2B software at scale.
• Deep knowledge of mission-critical systems that need to provide high levels of security, compliance, availability and scale.
• Experience with digital transformation and driving organization-wide change efforts at mid to large scale enterprise software companies.
• Deep knowledge of operating systems, databases, networking, cloud-native 12-factor practices, and architectural solutions / approaches to resolve distributed systems problems on modern cloud-native infrastructure.
• Familiar with "platform as a product", API and UX design strategies.
• Have some domain knowledge of travel, airlines, hotels and travel agencies.
• 15 years related experience
• Bachelor's Degree

What You'll be doing:

• Help define Sabre's Technical Standards and direct Sabre's Architecture, Platform and Product Engineering teams e.g. maintaining a technology radar, with respect to approved languages, platforms, CI/CD tools and technologies etc.
• Run Sabre's Architecture Guild - comprising of your team of Architects and engineering leaders across the company and serve as the final approver for our ADRs (Architecture Decision Records).
• Help define governance around architectural decisions working closely with our SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) and Operations (Technology Engineering and Operations organizations) with respect to technology use (and costs).
• Define Sabre's platform and business architecture North Star - to modernize Sabre's platform and applications in the cloud to realize business value focused on solving key problems faced by Sabre's customers and travelers.
• Be proactive in identifying and driving resolutions to problems as they arise.
• As part of Sabre's senior engineering leadership, you will help define, articulate and communicate our technical and platform strategy at internal and external events.
• Be a change agent; Working closely with our architects and engineering teams you will define and deliver the next generation of Sabre's compute and transactional platforms - as the industry moves from traditional PNRs (Passenger Name Records) to modern Offer-Order architectures focused on customer centricity and innovative AI and data/analytics applications.
• Be a proponent of and drive to have good, organized, consolidated documentation and proper engineering discipline and hygiene.
