What you'll do:
Responsible for providing financial, credit, and trend analysis for the delivery of the Banks credit products and services to clients and prospects. Oversees the supervision of the multi-family underwriting team. Keeps apprised of industry trends as well as political and regulatory issues to determine their impact on specific industries or clients. Acts independently from the business development teams to structure, evaluate and underwrite credit requests. Provides leadership, training, and supervision and delegates day to day operations to the appropriate underwriting team members. Responsible for attaining established Bank and divisional financial goals, balance sheet limits and portfolio reporting. Performs all duties in accordance with the Bank's policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Bank operates.
What we are looking for:
  • This role will train, teach and develop staff. Actively manages, coach, and counsels individuals to improve their understanding of underwriting responsibilities and the significance of underwriting and risk management.
  • Evaluates complex credit requests.
  • Reviews credit analysis of new and existing credit requests and prepares financial analyses of tax returns (personal and business), audited financial statements and budgets,
  • Analyzes financial statements and financial projections and is well versed in modeling a sensitivity and break-even projection analysis.
  • Independently underwrites new credits and/or changes to existing credits and manages appropriate loan covenants to provide early triggers to detect deterioration of the credit.
  • Plays key role in working with business development officers to obtain information needed to underwrite the credit requests.
  • Frequently will join business development officers on client calls and visits to discuss new credit requests.
  • Takes lead and reviews work completed by underwriting team and provides feedback and guidance. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, policies and procedures. Keeps up with changes to banking regulation and completes bank training courses on-line.
  • Performs independent analysis of appraisal, environmental reports, and other third-party reports including collateral audits.
  • Assigns risk rating on new loan requests according to Bank policy.
  • Responsible for reviewing the calculations for spreads and due diligence documentation once completed by credit analysts.
  • Reviews and contributes to semi-annual portfolio review prepared by the team's Portfolio Manager.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred and 7 + years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and 4 years of management experience.
  • Experience with underwriting and credit analysis of Multifamily Real Estate debt.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial accounting, including guarantors as well as property level financials.
  • Knowledge in CRE lending, specifically, cash flow and collateral analysis as well as loan structuring.
  • Financial analysis experience for corporate and individual's financial statements as well as tax returns.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly express complex financial concepts both verbally and in writing.
  • Superior expertise in managing multiple project-oriented tasks and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while being team oriented.
  • Excellent problem resolution and organizational skills.
  • Must possess a high level of motivation, initiative and leadership skills.
  • Proven strategic thinking, communication, time management, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to lead and train lower-level staff.

Compensation: Salary range for new hires is generally $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 for Los Angeles, CA. Salary range for new hires is generally $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 for Denver, CO. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
