Job Title: Volunteer Programs Manager
Actively supports Eden's mission of creating and sustaining high-quality affordable housing communities that advance equity and opportunity for all.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Volunteer Programs Manager will manage all volunteer recruitment and develop community engagement opportunities to support Eden Housing by recruiting, engaging and retaining volunteers. The position will assist Resident Services staff to convert volunteers into ambassadors for Eden Housing, while also working with external partners to create service opportunities for groups of employees, individual community members, corporate groups, affordable housing advocates, civic organizations, etc. The position is a skilled event planner and plays a key role in successfully planning and executing Resident Services' events where volunteers are needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead management of the current volunteer services program:
  • Manage the volunteer services system throughout Eden Housing that recruits, engages, and retains volunteers and turns them into ambassadors for Eden Housing.
  • Assess needs and opportunities for Volunteer Programs at Eden affordable housing sites. Identify potential new volunteer resources and assist staff to make connections and engage volunteers appropriately.
  • Develop collateral and information to orient volunteers and help them develop an understanding of Eden Housing, its Volunteer Programs, and affordable housing generally.
  • Design, maintain and evaluate volunteer training curriculum and procedures.
  • Manage volunteer stewardship, retention and professional development initiatives that will impact program outcomes and enhance volunteer satisfaction.
  • Create opportunities for corporate employee groups, individual community members, affordable housing advocates, and civic organizations to engage in projects benefiting Eden and its residents. Help leverage these relationships into fundraising opportunities.
  • Cultivate relationships with new corporate partners.
  • Develop and manage large-scale events, including volunteer appreciation events, which highlight the program and engage corporate groups and city officials.
  • Serve as the primary logistics coordinator for volunteer events and provide support at Resident Services' events as needed.
  • Contribute to grant applications where volunteer activities are involved.
  • Actively participate in our culture of inclusivity.

Digital content management:
  • In collaboration with the Communications Department, increase Eden Housing's online presence, build a digital sense of volunteer community, and encourage volunteers to begin or continue a volunteer partnership with Eden Housing via digital engagement.
  • Lead documentation of volunteer activities through photographs and videos. Organize documentation and make available for all public relations needs.
  • Coordinating with Eden's Digital Communications Specialist, ensure and promote volunteer recognition on website, social media and newsletters. Manage a quarterly newsletter, post content regularly on social media channels, and ensure website is updated and an accurate representation of the current volunteer program.

Measure, evaluate and increase the effectiveness of volunteer services programs:
  • Maintain the volunteer database in Salesforce, or similarly focused platform, to support fundraising, outcomes measurement, and general communications.
  • Develop outcome goals for volunteer services, implement outcome measurements, and develop strategies for improving outcomes, while working closely with the Associate Director of Programs and Evaluation, the Vice President of Resident Services, and other Resident Services staff.
  • Provide data for purposes of reporting to the Board of Directors, senior staff, and funding opportunities.

Training:
  • Coordinate with Eden's Talent Development Department to deliver trainings to staff that will assist them in developing and improving volunteer capacity.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, and five years related experience in volunteer services programming in nonprofit, social services, recreation activities, health services, with demonstrated success performing the critical job functions.
  • Experience managing databases and creating reports and dashboards.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining partnerships with external groups.
  • Passionfor volunteerism and direct experience volunteering with non-profits.
  • Salesforce data management and reporting experience preferred.
  • Experience with external communications required, and partnership development is highly preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
  • Proven ability to direct program activities; lead by example; formulate and execute company-wide goals and objectives and assess achievement.
  • Ability to manage moderately complex projects and events from concept through execution, stewardship and reporting.
  • Strategic thinker. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative working style; team building approach.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to represent the company, and communicate and interface professionally to public officials, community groups, staff, board, residents and public.
  • Ability to handle shifting and multiple priorities in a fast paced, growth environment.
  • Must be able and willing to travel to all company locations. Ability to work evening and weekend shifts, as needed.
  • Experience working with diverse groups, i.e., staff, residents, outside contacts.
  • Commitment to Eden's goals and philosophy.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to travel during the business day to Eden properties, training sites and event locations.

LANGUAGE, MATH & REASONING SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Physical demands include writing/typing, use of computer and paper files, answering phones, attending meetings.
