JOB SUMMARY

The Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator works under the supervision of the Director of Community Engagement. The primary functions of this position are to 1) coordinate the day to day responsibilities within the Volunteer Department and 2) promote internal and external stakeholder engagement with the programs, services, and events of LCFL. The position is a visible representative for the organization, participating in various aspects of outreach and marketing, program implementation, education, networking, partnership/capacity building, and general community relations. The Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator is a key contributor to the growth and advancement of LCFL, its overarching mission and vision, and its strategic/operational/marketing planning success. The Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator must have capability to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals and groups to include patients, their family members, community leaders, volunteers, referral sources, donors and staff. Performs responsible administrative duties of a general and confidential nature for volunteer programs, marketing and communications, and fund development.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  1. Recruits, trains, supervises, and recognizes volunteer activities for assigned counties.
  2. Coordinates volunteer services with the interdisciplinary team.
  3. Arranges for administrative volunteer support to LCFL offices and care center locations.
  4. Provides support and volunteer services to agency programs, offices, and events.
  5. Assures compliance with agency goals and Medicare/ACHC requirements for volunteer activity and participation.
  6. Coordinates and assists Human Resources with maintaining current volunteer files, annual updates, and active/inactive volunteer lists.
  7. Acts as a liaison between volunteers and LCFL staff.
  8. Provides coverage and problem-solving to other Volunteer Services Coordinators in ensuring volunteer opportunities are identified and met.
  9. Provides leadership and support in the development and deployment of educational offerings in the community. Servers as a key public presenter/educator.
  10. Coordinates engagement strategies and activites for consistent community outreach, education, awareness, and involvement.
  11. Provides community liaison support for all LCFL programs, services, and departments.
  12. Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently.
  13. Maintains and adjusts schedule to enhance program performance.
  14. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with all members of the team.
  15. Maintains and promotes customer satisfaction.
  16. Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare on a daily basis.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree prefered. Related volunteer coordination experience and/or training preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Licensure / Certifications: None.
  3. Experience: Two years of volunteer coordination experience, community relations, and/or human services preferred.
  4. Essential Technical / Motor Skills: Eye hand coordination; walking; driving a car; talking; hearing; using computer, fax, copier, overhead projector, telephone. Able to use Microsoft programs and to navigate electronic medical records.
  5. Interpersonal Skills: Strong command of the English language with verbal and written communication skills; ability to work well with people; highly self motivated and self disciplined; good listener and flexible.
  6. Essential Physical Requirements Sitting; walking; reaching; feeling with hands and fingers; ability to lift up to twenty-five pounds; stooping; bending.
  7. Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to work long hours and manage stressful situations. Creativity to develop effective advertisements and marketing tools.
  8. Essential Sensory Requirements: Touch, sight, hearing.
  9. Exposure to Hazards: Driving, office environment.
  10. Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, usually 8-5. Weekend, evening and early morning hours will be required from time to time. Flexibility with scheduling will be required.
  11. Population Served: North Carolina Counties served by Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
  12. Driving: Will be required to drive. Must have reliable transportation. Will be subject to the Safe Driver Policy.
