The Adel DeSoto Minburn Community School District is seeking a Vocal Music teacher for the 2024-2025 school year to join our growing district. This position will be a 1.0 FTE at ADM High School.
ADM HS educates approximately 650 students and is located in Adel and shares the complex with the Middle School. A new High School and auditorium will open for the 2027-28 school year.
The ideal candidate would be skilled in encouraging student collaboration and music acquisition, demonstrating a love and appreciation for teaching music to High School students, provide students with music opportunities and experiences to further learning and student performance, be skilled in vocal pedagogy and choral instruction, and providing students with music opportunities to further their learning.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of standards referenced grading and professional learning communities. Applicants must be highly collaborative, demonstrate passion for education and a personal philosophy that doing whatever it takes to help students be successful. Requirements:
- Valid Teacher License
- Vocal Music Endorsement
Essential Functions of this teacher include:
- Direction of High School choirs
- Direction of jazz choirs
- Development of student voices through vocal instruction and development of singers in the choral, small group, and individual lesson settings
- Preparation of students to audition for the All-State Honor Choir, Opus Honor Choir, and other honor choirs/festivals
- Collaboration with the Drama Director for the selection of the annual fall musical, preparation of musicians, direction of the pit orchestra, etc.
- Identification of opportunities to perform for and engage with the broader ADM community
- Preparation of students for large group, small group, and solo performances, concerts, and contests
- Knowledge of instructional practices for choral education
- A belief that each and every student can achieve and a desire to make a positive impact in students' lives
- Knowledge of using technology and sound equipment to support student learning and performance
- Highly collaborative in working with other teachers inside and outside of the music department
- Interest in participating and seeking out professional learning opportunities and demonstrate a reflective nature to grow professionally
- Strong communication skills
- Effective record-keeping and organizational skills
